Title: My debate with a apostate Muslim please help!
Post by: Isa27James on August 13, 2014, 11:03:49 PM
Assalam alykam here is what i said Isa James Islam Poet
'If the Jesus of Christianity had been slain (shed his blood) by King Herod as an infant, there would have been totally no need for the New Testament with all its theological mysteries; the Hebrew / Christian version of God’s need of blood sacrifice would have been eternally but quietly satisfied. Then all humanity could have forgotten this finished Judeo-Christian religion forever! The fact the crucifixion must be continually re-enacted and preached on really proves this whole theological story never happened and is condemned by its own core theology as a hypocritical lie.

When considering the continuing value of the Bible, it is best summed up a by Jesus himself: “It is finished!”'

That would not have happen since that is not what was decreed to happen. The need for the New Testament was decreed before Jesus was even incarnated, the purpose of the Old Testament was to set the stage for the New, for example see the two promise made by God in Jeremiah 33:14-26 and Jeremiah 31::31-37 ...God's promises can not be broken and that is what we know Islam is not true.

HOW DO I RESPOND TO HIS POINTS

I don't know exactly what the debate is about, so if you care to explain a little-I may be able to help.

What really caught my eye was his last statement and how he said that is how we know Islam is not true. What in the world does that have to do with the subject matter?

These verses he mentioned in no way contradict the Quran (in fact, they are irrelevant to the Quran). The Quran and torah both state that there is going to be more messengers and more laws for and after the children of Israel. The Quran and Torah both agree that the messiah is coming etc.

He said: The need for the New Testament was decreed before Jesus was even incarnated, ...
for example see the two promise made by God in Jeremiah 33:14-26 and Jeremiah 31::31-37

Quote
..... Jeremiah 33:26 For I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.

Jeremiah 31:31 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,    “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel    and with the people of Judah.
Jeremiah 31:37 This is what the Lord says:“Only if the heavens above can be measured    and the foundations of the earth below be searched out
will I reject all the descendants of Israel    because of all they have done,”declares the Lord.

New covenant is 2nd chance. What he quotes refers to promise prior to  second temple era. And guess what happen during 2nd temple era. Jews were shamed by God after rejecting Jesus who were to preach covenant only to Israelites. New Covenant can not be Greek New Testament as the content of greek gospels are meant for gentiles while God promised new covenant with the peoples mentioned only in Jer 31:31.
