The answer is... yes!
Sura 42:11
SAHIH INTERNATIONAL
[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves mates, and among the cattlemates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
And Hadith?
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: There is no prescribed punishment for one (Muslim) who has sexual intercourse with an animal. - ( Sunan Abu Dawud 38 : 4450 )

The Noble Verse is not about sex with animals at all. And the Hadith actually proves that sex with animals is a sin, but there is no specific punishment (ex: 100 lashes) for it. The punishment FOR THIS SIN is open depending on the case and the type of sin. The only mate for man is the woman:
[039:006] He created you from one being, then from that (being) HE MADE ITS MATE; and He hath provided for you of cattle eight kinds. He created you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, in a threefold gloom. Such is Allah, your Lord. His is the Sovereignty. There is no God save Him. There are also countless Hadiths from Prophet Muhammad that command the killing of those who practice bestiality:

So the narrator of your Hadith didn't fully know that the Prophet already commanded killing of those who practice bestiality. Plus, in the link above, I provided also ample Noble Verses from the Glorious Quran that prohibit bestiality and homosexuality and all other sexual sinning.
