WHY IDOL WORSHIP IS FORBIDDEN???

WHY IDOL WORSHIP IS FORBIDDEN???

Many of my non-muslim friend ask me if you muslims consider idol worship a big sin then why do you bow before kaaba. Isn't this a man-made object I said, yes it is. First let me differentiate associating partners with God(Shirk) and idol-worship. Idol worship can be done by those who believe in one god by making the idol of that one god. Associating partners with one God(Shirk) is not related to the topic but I will cover both of it here. I personally believe the reason idol worship is forbidden because it’s a symbol of materialism. The idol-worshippers make god out of everything for their personal motive or for them it’s a money-making machine. Nevertheless, if it wasn’t then God would have allowed muslims to make a replica of kaaba and bow down to it wherever they were. Today, we muslims take pride in calling ourselves as a staunch believer of monotheism but we fail to realise that just bowing down five times a day is not just what God wants us to do. The so called scholars of Islam with their egoistic motives had indeed made muslims to worship idols and that idol is the book they write & ask them to follow by claiming  that they are only rightly guided ones. I don’t blame them alone as in the matter of religion majority of muslims blindly follow whatever their religious leader tells them but when it comes to worldly matters they are quick in raising their eyebrows whenever the issue is not in their favor. This is what let me believe that majority of  muslims worship their leaders and their books besides God & the best example is the verse of the Quran itself which says that when God said to angels to bow before Adam(2:34) remember bow & not to worship here as it stands for obeying the command of God here & shirk is proven in the verse(QV9:31) that christians and jews worshipped their monks & leaders (9:31) by obeying blindly whatever they said to them. So now I hope my muslim brothers & sister got my philosophy of prohibition by Allah to bow before any kind of object except Kaaba. Hence, my dear muslim brothers & sisters ask yourself what you are worshipping Allah or your religious leaders &  their books.

you can always answer to those non-muslims that kaaba is just direction for prayers. it is just a structure being place of prayer.
and why it is not considered idol worship. not a single stance in prayers that muslims ask through the kaaba to send message to God, its directly praying and asking to God.

Sculptures  and images of the Creator are not needed in worship, and this is what the Creator have decreed since past covenants till the seal covenant. the reason is pretty simple actually.
Something to be worshiped that is visible in front of them, created by humans themselves yet cant become superior than humans that created the object.

And the people of Musa (Moses) made in his absence, out of their ornaments, the image of a calf (for worship). It had a sound (as if it was mooing). Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to the way? They took it (for worship) and they were Zalimun (wrong-doers). (7:148)

Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!"  (21:65)

Do don't go to hajj as kaaba it is created by humans too. Try to understand my message dear before replying. The idol worship is a symbol of materialism otherwise Allah would have allowed mankind to worship the replica of kaaba. As Allah cannot be see see or even imagined
Quran 6:103 - No vision can grasp Him, but His Grasp is over all vision. He is the Most Subtle and Courteous, Well-Acquainted with all things.

Leave Allah even His creation is beyond the comprehension of human mind.

Quran 40:57 - The creation of the heavens and the earth is indeed greater than the creation of mankind, yet most of mankind know not.

Also read my article here the creation of Al-Azeem if u r interested.

Finally, can u tell me ur age so that I can save my time.

As'salamu Alaikum dear brothers,

We Muslims don't worship the Kaaba.  Any Muslim who rubs his body against it to gain blessings is committing an act of idol worship.  The Kaaba is the HOUSE of GOD Almighty on earth.  It is a Temple and not an idol.  We Muslims don't worship the Kaaba.  We instead bow to Allah Almighty in the direction of the Kaaba.

The idol worshipers such as hindus who make idols of elephants and other animals to represent certain Characteristics of GOD Almighty (ex: the elephant is a representation of a GOD that hears because the elephant has big ears) are not like the Muslims who bow to GOD Almighty in the direction of His House, the Kaaba.

Any Muslim who tries to make Islam like the hindu religion, such as putting a Kaaba idol on his desk at work, for example, is committing an act of idol worship by this ignorance, because he is now making the Kaaba something worthy of worship, and/or a representation of GOD Almighty, and/or an object to gain blessings from by putting it on his desk.

Walaikumsalam brother osama,

I had written that they know & I know that kaaba is not the idol.U got my message wrong &  I think the topic should have been - IDOL WORSHIP the symbol of materialism. Why only kaaba every mosque is called as the house of GOD but we all muslims believe that Kaaba is the supreme one. Try to understand the point y idol-worship is forbidden & The message behind it.Didn't Allah made angels to bow before Adam. Allah could have told muslims to make an idol of adam or replica of kaaba to bow before it. Worship and bowing is two different things and it is proven by the verse of Quran that I had mentioned Quran 2:34 & Quran 9:31. Quran 9:31 says that "christians and jews worshipped their monks & leaders ". How idol worship and shirk is inter-connected. We all know that jews and christians don't worship them but they had done so  by obeying whatever they said to them blindly. Now I hope u got my point!!!

Jazak Allah khayr,
Rashid K

Wa Alaikum As'salam dear brother,

I don't think anyone is in disagreement here.  I just want to answer the point about why only bow to the Kaaba.  The reason why we bow to Allah Almighty in the direction of the Kaaba is because it is the Qibla (the unified point of worshiping Allah Almighty on earth).  However, Allah Almighty did also Say this:

[002:125]  And (remember that) We designated the House of Worship (built by Ibraheem) to be the resort of peace, and a sanctuary for mankind. So, consider the place where Ibraheem stood to be the (sacred) place to pray. We entrusted Ibraheem and Ismail with the duty of keeping My house (clean and) pure for those who go around it (in a ritual of ‘Tawwaf’), those who confine themselves there (to worship in seclusion), and those who bow down and prostrate (before Allah).

[002:115]  The East, and the West belong to Allah. Face any direction, and right there is the face of Allah (in that very direction)! Indeed, Allah is the Infinite, the all-Knowing!

Many Muslims interpret Noble Verse 2:115 to mean that if you're not sure where exactly the direction of the Qibla, then just Pray at any random direction.  Your prayer would still count.

I agree with you on the point of the Angels bowing to Adam, peace be upon him and them.  Yes, it doesn't mean that the Angels worshiped Adam as a deity or as someone who has any power of making any decision.  It really all comes down to this last statement.  If they rub their bodies against the Kaaba to gain blessings, if they go to Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) grave to seek his guidance or blessings, if they put any idol of any kind and pray to it for blessings or guidance or forgiveness or mercy, then without any doubt these people would be committing the sin of idol worship.

Bowing to others isn't allowed for Muslims in the Glorious Quran:

One point I would like to make about the Angels bowing to Adam.  I don't think that it is right for Muslims to accept this practice on regular basis.  In other words, a Muslim WHO ONLY bows to Allah Almighty must never ever ever bow to any creation.  PERIOD.  Allah Almighty's Command to the Angels to bow to Adam was:

1-  Limited to the Angels and to Adam.

2-  A way to make all of the Beings in the Universe bow to the True Believers from Mankind.

3-  Allah Almighty's Way to humble those Beings who think they're so mighty and high.

4-  Allah Almighty's Way to bring the cursed satan to his doom.

Some Muslims go too far with their interpretations, and they end up misguiding others.  As Muslims we must never bow to anyone or anything other than what Allah Almighty allowed for us; in this case the bow to the Almighty in the direction of the Kaaba, the unified Qibla and the Supreme House of Allah Almighty on earth.  Allah Almighty Said:

‏7:12 قال مامنعك الا تسجد اذ امرتك قال انا خير منه خلقتني من نار وخلقته من طين

[007:012]  (God) said: "What prevented thee from bowing down when I commanded thee?" He said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay."

Notice here that bowing in general isn't allowed EXCEPT FOR WHAT ALLAH ALMIGHTY PERMITS.

‏7:206 ان الذين عند ربك لايستكبرون عن عبادته ويسبحونه وله يسجدون

[007:206]  Those who are near to thy Lord, disdain not to do Him worship: They celebrate His praises, and bow down before Him يسجدون.

‏27:24 وجدتها وقومها يسجدون للشمس من دون الله وزين لهم الشيطان اعمالهم فصدهم عن السبيل فهم لايهتدون

[027:024]  "I found her and her people worshipping يسجدون the sun besides God: Satan has made their deeds seem pleasing in their eyes, and has kept them away from the Path,- so they receive no guidance,-

‏41:37 ومن اياته الليل والنهار والشمس والقمر لاتسجدوا للشمس ولا للقمر واسجدوا لله الذي خلقهن ان كنتم اياه تعبدون

[041:037]  Among His Sings are the Night and the Day, and the Sun and the Moon. Adore not لاتسجدوا the sun and the moon[/b][/u], but adore God, Who created them, if it is Him ye wish to serve./color]

Did Allah Almighty approve of people bowing to people in the Quran?

‏2:34 واذ قلنا للملائكة اسجدوا لادم فسجدوا الا ابليس ابى واستكبر وكان من الكافرين

[002:034]  And behold, We said to the angels: "Bow down to Adam" and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject Faith.

Here we see that it was Allah Almighty that Commanded the Angels to bown to Adam.  This was an exception that was made for Adam for the points that I mentioned above.

[012:099]  Then when they entered the presence of Joseph, he provided a home for his parents with himself, and said: "Enter ye Egypt (all) in safety if it please God."

[012:100]  And he raised his parents high on the throne (of dignity), and they fell down in prostration, (all) before him. He said: "O my father! this is the fulfilment of my vision of old! God hath made it come true! He was indeed good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you (all here) out of the desert, (even) after Satan had sown enmity between me and my brothers. Verily my Lord understandeth best the mysteries of all that He planneth to do, for verily He is full of knowledge and wisdom.

[012:101]  "O my Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on me some power[/u][/b], and taught me something of the interpretation of dreams and events,- O Thou Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my Protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Take Thou my soul (at death) as one submitting to Thy will (as a Muslim), and unite me with the righteous."

**** Here the parents and Joseph and everyone else bowed to Allah Almighty.  But even if we take the interpretation that the parents for the sake of argument bowed to their son, Joseph, then in this case here Allah Almighty is only stating history and not a Command that He necessarily approved of.  The parents prostrating to their son isn't some thing that Allah Almighty Commanded.  But again, I strongly believe that the parents, Joseph and everyone else here prostrated to Allah Almighty.  This is seen in the context of Joseph referencing Allah Almighty in Noble Verses 12:99 and 12:101.

‏20:70 فالقى السحرة سجدا قالوا امنا برب هارون وموسى

[020:070]  So the magicians were thrown down to prostration: they said, "We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses".

Again here, the magicians prostrated to Allah Almighty and not to Moses.

There is no evidence from the Quran:

There is no evidence from the Glorious Quran that Allah Almighty approved of people prostrating to people.  Some might try to interpret the Glorious Quran to fit their own desires, but I would warn them to fear Allah Almighty and not to play with fire.  In the End, many will stand before Allah Almighty and will swear that they were not polytheists when in actuality they were:

[006:021]  And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against ALLAH or treat HIS Signs as lies ? Surely the unjust shall not prosper.

[006:022]  And think of the day when WE shall gather them all together; then shall WE say to those who associated partners with ALLAH, `Where are the partners you spoke of - those whom you asserted ?'

[006:023]  Then they will have no excuse save that   they shall say, `By ALLAH,    our Lord, we were not idolaters.'

[006:024]   See how they shall lie against themselves. And that which they fabricated shall fail them.

[006:025]   And among them are some who give ear to thee; but WE have put veils on their hearts, that they should not understand, and deafness in their ears. And even if they see every Sign, they would not believe therein, so much so that when they come to thee, disputing with thee, those who disbelieve say, `This is nothing but fables of the ancients.'

Notice how the last Noble Verse speaks about those who even give ear to the Prophet.  So they could be among the Muslims.  Many "Muslims" are no more than hypocrites and liars.

Who Do Muslim Worship ?

The submission of man to his Creator is the essence of Islam. The word "Islam" literally means, "to submit" or "to surrender. "The real question one should ask is: "submit and surrender" to whom? Muslims submit and surrender their will and desires to the will and the laws of the Creator. This is what "Islam" truly means. By referring to, "The Creator", Muslims are talking about "Allah."

Allah is the Creator of all that is in the heavens and the earth. In Islam, Allah is the True and Only Creator, and only he deserves to be worshipped. Nothing else is worthy of worship; not stones, statues, crosses, tombs (of any religion), the sun, the moon, stars, temples, animals, Prophets (from any religion), messengers, saints, priests, movie stars, musicians, athletes, or religious scholars. All of those are created beings, and are not worthy of worship in Islam. In fact, doing that is to associate partners with Allah, and it is the only sin that would never be forgiven on the Day of Judgment.

Allah is the Arabic word for God. This is the way all Arab Jews, Christians and Muslims call God. Allah is the personal name of God, which He gave to Himself in the Qur'an. The Qur'an is the last and final revelation from Allah to mankind, that Allah gave to Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, through the Angel Gabriel. The name "Allah" is unique. It has no feminine or masculine form (unlike 'god' or 'goddess'). It also has no plural form (unlike 'gods' and goddesses'). The name "Allah" simply means "The One and Only True God."

The name "Allah" was not a name invented by the Arabs. It has been the name of God since the beginning of time. In the Torah, we can easily find the name that God gave Himself, "Elah", or in some cases, "Eloh" (Elohim -[im] being a form of respect in the Hebrew language). It was also used in the Aramaic language, which was the language spoken by our beloved Prophet Jesus, alayhes salam.

The Creator, Allah, has perfect attributes. He is the First; there was none before Him, and He is the Last. Allah is the Ever-living; everything will end in death, except Him. He is the Protecting Friend and to Him is the Final Return, where everything will be dealt with and judged in the Most Perfect and Just way.

Muslims are confident of the Just and Perfect Judgment of Allah, The Creator, because He tells us repeatedly in the Qur'an that He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, and perfectly just.

Allah also tells us in the Qur'an, that He does not beget, nor is He begotten. Begetting offspring, eating and sleeping are all characteristics of created things. Compare this, for example, to the Biblical ideas of God resting on the seventh day of creation, and begetting a son.

Muslims believe that Allah does not have the characteristics of people, animals or any created things. Muslims also believe that Allah is All- Powerful and able to do all things, He merely says to it "Be" and it is. Such as the case of the miraculous birth of Prophet Jesus, alayhes salam, and when Allah created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them.

The most important point about Islamic worship is to understand that Muslims worship One God only. This pure and simple message of Islam has remained unchanged since the first man walked on earth. From the Prophet Moses, alayhes salam, calling out to his people, "Hear 'O Israel: The Lord our God is One" [Deuteronomy 6:4 (English-KJV)]; to Prophet Jesus, alayhes salam, teaching and reprimanding his disciples, "Why does thou callest me good? There is none good but one, that is, God" [Matthew 19: 17; Mark 10: 18; Luke 18: 19 (English-KJV)]; to the last messenger of monotheism who came with the final revelation from God proclaiming, "Your God is One God, there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful" [Qur'an 2: 163].

Allah, The One. This is whom over one-billion Muslims across the world pray to five times each day.

The declaration of faith for one who wants to embrace Islam is: "Ashadu Alla Ilaha Illallah wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasoolullah", which means when translated to English: "There is nothing worthy of worship but Allah; alone, and Muhammad is His Messenger."

This simple, yet profound belief is what draws thousands of Westerners and people from all walks of life, religions, cultural and ethnic backgrounds to Islam every year and has made the religion of Islam the fastest growing religion on earth today.

we Muslim pray only Allah because
Allah creator/controller of all matters in our universe
39: 46. Say (O Muhammad SAW): "O Allâh! Creator of the heavens and the earth! All-Knower of the Ghaib (unseen) and the seen. You will judge between your slaves about that wherein they used to differ."
42:11. The Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you mates from yourselves, and for the cattle (also) mates. By this means He creates you (in the wombs). There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.
35: 15. O mankind! it is you who stand in need of Allâh, but Allâh is Rich (Free of all wants and needs), Worthy of all praise.
16. If He will, He could destroy you and bring about a new creation.
17. And that is not hard for Allâh.

Allah always too nearest to us:
56: 83. Then why do you not (intervene) when (the soul of a dying person) reaches the throat?
84. And you at the moment are looking on,
85. But We (i.e. Our angels who take the soul) are nearer to him than you, but you see not,
57: 4. He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and then Istawâ (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, what descends from the heaven and what ascends thereto. And He is with you (by His Knowledge) wheresoever you may be. And Allâh is the All-Seer of what you do.
All the matters in universe praise Allah:
57: 1. Whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allâh, and He is the All-Mighty, All-Wise.
2. His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, It is He Who gives life and causes death; and He is Able to do all things.
59: 1. Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth glorifies Allâh. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
62: 1. Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth glorifies Allâh, the King (of everything), the Holy, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
he was the creator Day/night :
28: 71. Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Tell me! If Allâh made night continuous for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is an ilâh (a god) besides Allâh who could bring you light? Will you not then hear?"
72. Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Tell me! If Allâh made day continuous for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is an ilâh (a god) besides Allâh who could bring you night wherein you rest? Will you not then see?"
73. It is out of His Mercy that He has put for you night and day, that you may rest therein (i.e. during the night) and that you may seek of His Bounty (i.e. during the day), and in order that you may be grateful.
he was most merciful
28: 13. So did We restore him to his mother, that she might be delighted, and that she might not grieve, and that she might know that the Promise of Allâh is true. But most of them know not.
30: 6. (It is) a Promise of Allâh (i.e. Allâh will give victory to the Romans against the Persians), and Allâh fails not in His Promise, but most of men know not.
35: 45. And if Allâh were to punish men for that which they earned, He would not leave a moving (living) creature on the surface of the earth, but He gives them respite to an appointed term, and when their term comes, then verily, Allâh is Ever AllSeer of His slaves.
42: 19. Allâh is very Gracious and Kind to His slaves. He gives provisions to whom He wills. And He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.
57:9. It is He Who sends down manifest Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) to His slave (Muhammad SAW) that He may bring you out from darkness into light. And verily, Allâh is to you full of kindness, Most Merciful.
Allha only forgive sin
4: 17. Allâh accepts only the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and foolishness and repent soon afterwards; it is they to whom Allâh will forgive and Allâh is Ever AllKnower, AllWise.
4: 106. And seek the Forgiveness of Allâh, certainly, Allâh is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful.
4: 110. And whoever does evil or wrongs himself but afterwards seeks Allâh's Forgiveness, he will find Allâh OftForgiving, Most Merciful.
8: 38. Say to those who have disbelieved, if they cease (from disbelief) their past will be forgiven. But if they return (thereto), then the examples of those (punished) before them have already preceded (as a warning).
Allah will/ deed/law/nature will only going to happened:
18: 23. And never say of anything, "I shall do such and such thing tomorrow."
24. Except (with the saying), "If Allâh will!" And remember your Lord when you forget and say: "It may be that my Lord guides me unto a nearer way of truth than this."
18: 109. Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind). "If the sea were ink for (writing) the Words of my Lord, surely, the sea would be exhausted before the Words of my Lord would be finished, even if we brought (another sea) like it for its aid."
20: 74. Verily! Whoever comes to his Lord as a Mujrim (criminal, polytheist, disbeliever in the Oneness of Allâh and His Messengers, sinner, etc.), then surely, for him is Hell, therein he will neither die nor live.
Allah only know the Ghaib (unseen)
6: 59. And with Him are the keys of the Ghaib (all that is hidden), none knows them but He. And He knows whatever there is in (or on) the earth and in the sea; not a leaf falls, but he knows it. There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record.
11: 123. And to Allâh belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision). So worship Him (O Muhammad SAW) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do."
27: 65. Say: "None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (unseen) except Allâh, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected."
34: 48. Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Verily! My Lord sends down Inspiration and makes apparent the truth (i.e. this Revelation that had come to me), the AllKnower of the Ghaib (unseen).

Shirk is greater sin in Islam:
39: 65. And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad SAW), as it was to those (Allâh's Messengers) before you: "If you join others in worship with Allâh, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers."
50: 26. "Who set up another ilâh (god) with Allâh, then (both of you) cast him in the severe torment."
Except shirk other sin allha may be forgive:
4: 116. Verily! Allâh forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allâh, has indeed strayed far away.
Bukhari :: Book 6 :: Volume 60 :: Hadith 334
Narrated Ibn Abbas:
Some pagans who committed murders in great number and committed illegal sexual intercourse excessively, came to Muhammad and said, "O Muhammad! Whatever you say and invite people to, is good: but we wish if you could inform us whether we can make an expiration for our (past evil) deeds." So the Divine Verses came: 'Those who invoke not with Allah any other god, not kill such life as Allah has forbidden except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse.' (25.68) And there was also revealed:-- 'Say: O My slaves who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah.' (39.53)

so we Pray Allah alone(thouheed)
40: 14. So, call you (O Muhammad SAW and the believers) upon (or invoke) Allâh making (your) worship pure for Him (Alone) (by worshipping none but Him and by doing religious deeds sincerely for Allâh's sake only and not to show-off and not to set up rivals with Him in worship). However much the disbelievers (in the Oneness of Allâh) may hate (it).
43: 64. "Verily, Allâh! He is my Lord (God) and your Lord (God). So worship Him (Alone). This is the (only) Straight Path (i.e. Allâh's religion of true Islâmic Monotheism)."
46: 5. And who is more astray than one who calls (invokes) besides Allâh, such as will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and who are (even) unaware of their calls (invocations) to them?
6. And when mankind are gathered (on the Day of Resurrection), they (false deities) will become enemies for them and will deny their worshipping.
47: 19. So know (O Muhammad SAW) that Lâ ilâha ill-Allâh (none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh), and ask forgiveness for your sin, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women. And Allâh knows well your moving about, and your place of rest (in your homes).
51: 51. And set not up (or worship) any other ilâhan (god) along with Allâh [Glorified be He (Alone), Exalted above all that they associate as partners with Him]. Verily, I (Muhammad SAW) am a plain warner to you from Him.
51: 56. And I (Allâh) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone).
59: 22. He is Allâh, than Whom there is Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen (open). He is the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Re: WHY IDOL WORSHIP IS FORBIDDEN???
« Reply #9 on: April 04, 2015, 11:23:40 AM »

That is a theory where you create a situation where Allah could have give commands to bow down (not necessarily means worship, just respect) to idols for e.g statue of Adam and Kaaba maybe by placing them in houses. But Allah do not do so due to it being a symbol of materialism in many places.
But then again, non-muslim can simply claim that Muslims are worshiping a symbol of materialism not in many places but concentrated only in one place.

that is why we just say to them Kaaba is simply a structure. It has a door, stairs to rooftop. If you are inside the structure. You can bow and pray towards any direction.
