Title: Moon split in two
Post by: nivera79 on June 29, 2015, 07:22:56 AM
Asalamo 'likom wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu, brother Osama

I have read your post about the splitting of the moon in two, and you quote 4 hadith that can be rejected because they give no details and they use phrases like "during the lifetime of the Prophet", indicating that they were not written by direct witnesses. But I found another hadith that gives details and is allegedly to be narrated by a direct witness of the event:

"Transmitted on the authority of Abdullah b. Mas'ud (who said):
We were along with Allah's Messenger (sws) at Mina, that moon was split up into two. One of its parts was behind the mountain and the other one was on this side of the mountain. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upbn him) said to us: Bear witness to this."

Reference    : Sahih Muslim 2800 b
In-book reference    : Book 52, Hadith 28
USC-MSA web (English) reference    : Book 39, Hadith 6725

¿Are those hadith also false? ¿Is Abdullah b. Mas'ud a lier?

Jazaku Allahu khairan for your response.
