Nationalism/pride on Osama's cover page
« on: January 04, 2013, 09:44:54 PM »
Asalamwalaikum warahmatulllah

*IMPORTANT*I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE OSAMA LOOK BAD NOR AM I CHALLENGING ISLAM.  I JUST WANT TO ASK A QUESTION AND RECEIVE AN ANSWER. JAZAKALLAH

My name is Abdullah and I am getting very into learning Islam and I have learned a fair amount in the last 2 months.  One thing I learned is that pride and nationalism is a big sin in Islam.   I saw on one of the pages that showed the American flag and the Palestinian flag and Osama said he was proud to be an Palestinian-American.  I wouldn't say that because America is very much involved in destroying Palestine and America is also a kafir country.  We shouldn't become attached to non-muslim countries, especially one that is a big enemy of Islam.  Also, I understand Palestine is in a very bad situation and I feel deeply for masjid Al Aqsa, but nationalism is what split the khilafah and it makes people love their country instead of Islam.  I just want to know if I missed a hadith that justify's your flags or if I'm correct.  Once again thank you very much and may Allah bless you and any other true knowledgeable answerers on this site.

Here is the page i saw it on:  http://www.answering-christianity.com/emailme.htm

First, I just want to say that pride and nationalism ARE NOT sins in Islam. Kibr (I don't know the English word for it, sorry), which is thinking that your better than other people for purely selfish reasons, such as wealth, and thinking that your better than someone just because your, for example, wealthier. However, this does not mean you cant love your wealth. This is a major
Second, As for sin the Al-Aqsa mosque, you should now that it is under Muslim authority, the Israelis granted Muslims that.
Third, cant you love your country AND ISLAM? me myself, i love my religion, Islam, my country, KSA (although im against some government policies)
I also love my race and language, Arabs and Arabic, but this does not mean i don't love Islam, it just means i love my race and language, also this does not mean i think myself better simply because im an Arab.
and whats wrong about our beautiful flags.
Also, i don't think you should call any country a "kafir" country unless they persecute muslims for their religion. And some muslims are from, so-called, "kafir" countries, secular=/=kafir, a secular countries could have islamic laws, such as death for murder.
I hoped my answer helped
Peace
