Is there any verse in the Quran or the Hadith saying that watching movies is Haram?

if one sits watching movies at room/house and feels okay abandoning prayers because of it.
if one sits watching movies at cinemas with non spouse companion which later inviting unlawful desires

To reiterate what submit says, if it distracts you from your duties then ditch the habit. Same thing goes for music, art, TV, even good things like studying or the gym.

Depends. Any Total Recall remake without Arnold Schwarzenegger in it should be classified as the maximum of haram.
