Brother Ahmed Farooq and a few other brothers told me to bring them a hadith which says that every generation is worse than the one before it. Here it is:

I did not find a translation for it in English for you to understand however. And I do not want to translate it because I might translate some of the prophets words wrongly. The hadith is sahih. I don't think that this applies to every single generation but in general.

 Narrated Az-Zubair bin `Adi:

We went to Anas bin Malik and complained about the wrong we were suffering at the hand of Al- Hajjaj. Anas bin Malik said, "Be patient till you meet your Lord, for no time will come upon you but the time following it will be worse than it. I heard that from the Prophet."

Don't know Arabic.

Need to have reference for the hadith.

Even if the narration is Sahih, it does not mean the apparent meaning is the correct interpretation.

What I previously said was what the Wahabbi/"Salafi" scholars at islamqa had to say on the matter, or at-least my understanding of it.

It is worth pointing out that there is no basis for the phrase used in the question, “the best of generations is my generation”, although it is often used in the books of Ahl al-Sunnah. Moreover, there is a mistake with regard to its meaning. If this is what he said, then he would have said after it, “then the one that follows it.” But the wording of the hadeeth is “then those who follow them.” The wording of the saheeh hadeeth is: “The best of mankind is my generation” and “The best of my ummah is my generation.”

Regarding the Sahih Bukhari narration mentioned above, it would appear that the hadith is talking about the "times" and not  about the "generations". I hesitate to comment directly on narrations, because a great deal of knowledge is a prerequisite for such an action as sometimes the apparent meaning is not the actual meaning or at other times the narration is related to a particular context and not to be taken generally. One of the issues with this apparent interpretation of this hadith is the narration which the author himself mentioned in another post:
It his been narrated through a different chain of transmitters, on the authority of Hudhaifa b. al-Yaman who said:
Messenger of Allah, no doubt, we had an evil time (i. e. the days of Jahiliyya or ignorance) and God brought us a good time (i. e. Islamic period) through which we are now living Will there be a bad time after this good time? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yes. I said: Will there be a good time after this bad time? He said: Yes. I said: Will there be a bad time after good time? He said: Yes. I said: How? Whereupon he said: There will be leaders who will not be led by my guidance and who will not adopt my ways? There will be among them men who will have the hearts of devils in the bodies of human beings. I said: What should I do. Messenger of Allah, if I (happen) to live in that time? He replied: You will listen to the Amir and carry out his orders; even if your back is flogged and your wealth is snatched, you should listen and obey.

It would appear, from this narration, that good and bad times interchange with each other.

As'salamu Alaikum,

This hadith is a lie.  And the Prophet would not have dared to say it for the following reasons:

1-  Allah Almighty Commanded the Prophet to say:

[046:009]  Say, `I am no innovation among Messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow what is revealed to me; and I am but a plain Warner.'

2-  Allah Almighty Said:

[049:013]  O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

In case you still don't get it, the Prophet could not say, NOR DID HE HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OR AUTHORITY TO SAY, that a person 1400 years ago was better than Osama Abdallah, or any Believer on this board today, for example.  Besides, Islam's history has been very dark starting from its first generation!  The theft of Rule from Ali (Ali didn't pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr for 6 months, and he only did it to prevent the fitnah among Muslims):

Also, the civil wars between the Believers in the battle of camel and Siffin, and the fighting between Muslims that happened in Egypt, Yemen, Iraq were all done from the first generation of Muslims.

Yes, Abu Bakr STOLE the rule from Ali.  Ali was busy burying the Prophet and paying him his Honor and Respects, while Abu Bakr snuck on him and had the people pledge allegiance to him.  And again, Ali didn't pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr for 6 months after that.  Personally, when it comes to Ali, after Prophet Muhammad, all come second:

Ali to Muhammad is as Aaron to Moses:

Ali had the SELF of Muhammad:

For more proofs, visit:

And no, I am not shia.  In fact, shias that pray to Ali and Ahlul Bayt are polytheists.  We have tons of material on them that expose them:

Some (or many??) unknown companions will be thrown in Hell:

Book 040, Hadith Number 6847.(Sahih Muslim)
Narrated Ibn Abbas: .....and, behold! some persons of my Ummah would be brought and taken to the left and I would say: My Lord, they are my companions, and it would be said: You do not know what they did after you, and I would say just as the pious servant (Hadrat 'Isa) said:,I was a witness regarding them as I remained among them and Thou art a witness over everything, so if Thou chastisest them, they are Thy servants and if Thou forgivest them, Thou art Mighty, Wise" (v. 117-118). And it would be said to him: They constantly turned to their heels since you left them. This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Waki' and Mu'adh (and the words are): "What new things they fabricated."

So if the Prophet himself had no clue who is better and who is not from his generation, then how on GOD Almighty's earth could he possibly say that the generations to come are worse than the generations before them??  The statement itself is very absurd according to the Glorious Quran Itself as I demonstrated above.  The Prophet was directly commanded to keep quiet regarding evaluating people on Heaven and Hell.  Again:

".....nor do I know what will be done with me or with you...."

Throw it in the garbage!

So the hadith belongs to the garbage.  It is false.  Also throw away the false hadith about guaranteeing Paradise to the 10 companions hadith.  It too belongs to the garbage.  Again:

".....nor do I know what will be done with me or with you...."

What part of this Noble Verse is not clear?  Oh, let me guess.  It's the Quran.  So it's irrelevant.  Right?  When it comes to the hadiths, the Quran always takes the back seat.  It has no practical authority.  Here is what Allah Almighty Said about the cultists who disregard the Glorious Quran:

[025:030]  And the Messenger will say, `O my Lord, my people indeed treated this Qur'an as a thing to be discarded.'

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

anything contradicts with they Quran then throw it in the garbage . but wait  .

(2:141) "This is a people that have passed away; they shall have what they earned and you shall have what you earn, and you shall not be called upon to answer for what they did."

i think we must not spread hate for something we doesn't know and didn't see and not sure of dear brother Osama. there are no Umawi or Abbasi nations today . and consider us lucky that we have Quran with it lovely variant readings for some different words where the reminder content and it's significance is still the same and for who pleases to go straight.. it came like a pearl , and step by step , see Verse (75:16)

Allah used to raise nations over nations, negative over positive and positive over negative for the sake of evolution . everything is happening by his willing we need to understand Allah and fix what who before us have done , the yahood and nazarenes are getting fed on our sectorism and illiterate and hate that they made to us within each others.

(57:22-23) "Naught of disaster befalleth in the earth or in yourselves but it is in a Book before we bring it into being - Lo! that is easy for Allah -That ye grieve not for the sake of that which hath escaped you, nor yet exult because of that which hath been given. Allah loveth not all prideful boasters,"

we must stop history hate and blame because this is making new sects . (6:159)"Surely they who divided their religion into parts and became sects, you have no concern with them; their affair is only with Allah, then He will inform them of what they did."

if there are lots of Sunnah Hadeeths saheeh are false so what do you expect from 150years or later of the prophet's time biographies.

"What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity, When He created you by (divers) stages? , See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing."

The religion of Islam is Hijacked

anti christ myth

we need to be a new protestant about what happens before and stops the opening of the older files dear. it wont create except more problems and troubles.

Righteous believers do exist in each past and coming generations. Its just they are just only a handful of them.

The righteous are those who are constantly conscious of the presence of Allah. They are the nearest to Allah.

As for dissension between Muslims rulers with huge followers, that is the test of Allah unto those leaders whether they can solve or just heed to the demand of their followers.
