There were 7 different dialects in which the Qur'an could be recited, it's the Qureshi dialect which is the one which is used today, the proper one which was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

The others were requested to be burnt by Uthman (R.a) so there would not be confusion if that makes sense.
