As'salamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

My discussion with brother "A Proud Muslim" about the planemo earth theory has opened my apetite to further research earth in the Glorious Quran.  I have found the following interesting Noble Verses:

Which Earth will we resurrect from?

‏14:48 يوم تبدل الارض غير الارض والسماوات وبرزوا لله الواحد القهار

[014:048]  One day the earth will be changed to with a different earth تبدل الارض غير الارض, and so will be the heavens, and (men) will be marshalled forth, before God, the One, the Irresistible;

‏20:55 منها خلقناكم وفيها نعيدكم ومنها نخرجكم تارة اخرى

[020:055]  From the (earth) did We create you, and into it shall We return you, and from it shall We bring you out ومنها نخرجكم once again.

Which earth is it?  Our earth?  Or will it be substituted with another earth?

Minha (from it in the singular):

‏20:123 قال اهبطا منها جميعا بعضكم لبعض عدو فاما ياتينكم مني هدى فمن اتبع هداي فلايضل ولايشقى

[020:123]  He said: "Get ye down, both of you,- all together, from ITthe Garden, with enmity one to another: but if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance, will not lose his way, nor fall into misery.

"THE GARDEN" is added to the English translation.  The Arabic Says MINHA (from it).  What is it?  Was it a different earth?  Was it Heaven?

Noble Verse 39:67 (والارض جميعا  all of the earths)
www.answering-christianity.com/earth.htm#how_many_earths

Not just seven earths:

It seems quite clear to me that EARTH is not only both singular and plural, in the Glorious Quran, but they are all referenced as one unified family.  In other words, the planets that support our FLESH AND BLOOD type of life are all called EARTH.  This is where we get:

"God is He Who created seven Firmaments and of the earth a similar number. Through the midst of them (all) descends His Command: that ye may know that God has power over all things, and that God comprehends, all things in (His) Knowledge.  (The Noble Quran, 65:12)"

Not just seven earths.  Seven Heavens and all earths in them.  The Heavens and their subjects are all similar.  The word "number" is an added one in the English translation.

Disagree with me?

If you disagree with me, then please explain to me which earth will we resurrect from?  This earth that we currently live in, or will it be a different earth?

And why did Allah Almighty refer to BOTH OF THEM as MINHA (from it) منها?  Singular.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

Wa alaikum assalam wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuh...

Brrother I agree for 65:12, it is not Earths (plural) but from earth, Min al Ardi mislahunna....Singular form of earth.

For 14:48 I would say that the physical/ chemical or the materialisric form of the earth would be transformed into some other form so thats why 20:55 would be the same earth but transformed as well.

I find something interesting as well, it's samawaat in 14:48 ,however the last surahs mention only samaa regarding the changes in the hereafter...

Anyways, jazakullah khair

As'salamu Alaikum respected sister Dr. Tazeen,

"From the earth a similar" actually proves my point soundly, sister.  If I say, from a woman you find:

1-  The married.
2-  The single.
3-  The good cook.
4-  The lousy cook.
5-  The neat house wife.
6-  The messy house wife.
7-  The good mother.
8-  The bad mother.
9-  The chaste.
10-  The loose.
11-  The harlot.
Etc...

Then I would be speaking about all of the varieties of women.  "And from the earth a similar" actually means that there are possible varieties of earths and different types of life on earths.  In other words, not all are exactly copies like our earth, and all life on these planets are exact copies or replicas like ours.

Remember that "number" is an added word to the English translation.  The exact quote in Arabic:

"God is He Who created seven Firmaments and FROM THE EARTH a similar(The Noble Quran, 65:12)"

I hope this helps, insha'Allah.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

Also consider the following examples:

1-  A woman without her man is nothing.

2-  A woman, without her, man is nothing.

Notice the two commas in the second statement.  The first statement says that a woman who doesn't have a man is nothing.  The second statement says that a MAN WHO IS WITHOUT A WOMAN is nothing.  Same exact words, but completely different meanings.  Notice the singular forms of both sentences.  Yet, both sentences are speaking in the plural.

"....and FROM THE EARTH a similar...."  is similar here.  We know that most stars have a goldilocks zones that support water, atmosphere and life.

Ok the examples above were probably an overkill.  We learned the above examples in my graduate course in Computer Science that was called "Data Retrieval".  We were taught some of the concepts on how to develop advanced algorithms for data retrieval :).  Google and others use these concepts in their sophisticated search engines.

Take care,

Also, the very fact that Heaven and Hell are vast beyond our human-imagination further proves that we are not alone in the Universe.  I mean, why would Allah Almighty create a MIGHTY HELL that is almost infinitely vast so that He would put only a few billion humans in it?

It seems a lot more logical that we have TRILLIONS OF EARTHS and life out there, and thus, Hell's size would be very suitable to this vast number of creations from humans and also the Jinns and others.

I just find the massive HEAVEN AND HELL supposedly being for us earthlings only to be quite illogical.  That we are IT when it comes to the FLESH AND BLOOD, DUST AND WATER creations, I find that quite illogical.  We are not it.  We are no more than a microscopic bacterial colony in this vast universe.  In our Milky Way galaxy, you couldn't even see our planet using a microscope!  And we virtually do not exist when compared to the TRILLIONS OF GALAXIES out there.

We couldn't possibly be unique and alone in the Universe.  We were created from the fabric of this Universe.  Therefore, there has to be others similar to us.  There is nothing special about us in this Universe.  Everything that makes us our FLESH AND BLOOD comes from this Universe.  In fact, you could even purchase all of the things that makeup our flesh and blood online (soil, water, metals, vitamins, hormones, proteins, etc...).  So, logically speaking, we are not alone.  We couldn't POSSIBLY be the only flesh and blood "humans" out there.

"....and FROM THE EARTH a similar...." clearly means that there are earths out there.  Not just one.

Osama Abdallah

I think it's the same earth because the verse [020:055] says:

" From the (earth) did We create you, and into it shall We return you, and from it shall We bring you out ومنها نخرجكم once again."

God created us on earth and will resurrect us from it. Notice that the verse says, "From the (earth) did We create you".

As'salamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters,

I see no issue from the Glorious Quran that we will resurrect from the same earth that we currently live in, even though when the Cosmic Crunch happens, everything will be destroyed.  And the Glorious Quran does speak about the Cosmic Crunch.  But GOD Almighty can re-create our earth and resurrect us from it.  And like sister Tazeen said, it's probably a modified earth that will be suitable for the Day of Resurrection and Judgment.

But I believe my points about many earths exist out there still stand.  We are not alone in the Universe, and the Glorious Quran also supports this.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

After a long time.... :)

So brother, your point is that the word minha in 20:55 and 20:123 refer to another type of earth?

As'salamu Alaikum respected sister Dr. Tazeen,

Yes, another earth, sister.  The proof for this is in the Noble Verse that speaks about the Cosmic Crunch:

يوم نطوي السماء كطي السجل للكتب كما بدأنا أول خلق نعيده وعدا علينا إنا كنا فعلين

"The Day that We roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books (completed),- even as We produced the first creation, so shall We produce a new one كما بدأنا أول خلق نعيده: a promise We have undertaken: truly shall We fulfill it. (The Noble Quran, 21:104)"

www.answering-christianity.com/cosmic_crunch.htm

So yes, we will resurrect from another earth.  So Allah Almighty calling that new earth and our earth MINHA (from it) further supports that earth is both singular and plural in the Glorious Quran, since Allah Almighty said that He created the 7 Heavens and of "the earth a similar".

I hope this helps, Insha'Allah.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

20:117 ....?

Regarding 21:104,it could mean that
1.in the beginning or earlier stages ,there was a scrolled roll of books like structure
2.the same structure would appear at the doomsday as well.
3.the process of creation would be repeated.(not for the humans, but there is a room for a greater part of universe as well)

yes,it means we could be resurrected from another earth,or even from another, transformed earth, all occurring in a way similar to the previous one.
