the video shows about eclipse. They are claiming that arabs were confused about such phenomenon and thought it was moon splitting.

Quote
The people of Mecca asked Allah's Messenger (?) to show them a miracle. So he showed them the moon split in two halves between which they saw the Hira' mountain.

I haven't watched the video, but if the claim is that the Arabs were confused by the moon eclipse, I don't think that is a good argument. The reason being the Hadith literature clearly talks about a moon eclipse that happened at the time of death of one of Prophet Muhammad's sons, and everyone knew what it was (i.e. a lunar eclipse). Additionally, if I remember correctly, scientific data tell us that there was only one lunar eclipse during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad that would have been visible from Arabia.

 Assalamu Alaikum,

Can you give me a bunch of sources which state that there has been one lunar eclipse during the lifetime of the prophet (PBUH)?

@Abdullah Almadi, sincerest apologies!
I confused the lunar eclipse with the solar eclipse. The event I was referring to, included the solar eclipse, whose date apparenlty was: "29 Shawwal AH 10, as 27 January" (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_calendar (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_calendar))

On the matter of splitting of the moon, the theory FARHAN_UDDIN above has quoted (i.e. the actual splitting will happen near the day of judgement) has been one opinion of Muslim scholars. Al-Zamakhshari (a Mutazalite) and Yusuf Ali give this as one possible interpretation.

A brief analysis on the reliability of the pertinent Hadiths is done here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JI0vApyi7E (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JI0vApyi7E)

As'salamu Alaikum Everyone,

The moon was never split in half.  The following two articles make this very clear:

www.answering-christianity.com/moon_split.htm
www.answering-christianity.com/did_prophet_muhammad_split_moon.htm

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

 Assalamu alaikum,

I watched the video fully and TBH it's stupid. First, how did the prophet know that the eclipse was coming? Second, the companions already know what the eclipse looks like, so how would the next deceived so easily? Third, the moon literally got SPLIT into two parts, the eclipse in the video doesn't look like it at all. And fourth, the Prophet (PBUH) split the moon with his index finger and that shouldn't have taken that long. The eclipse shown in the video took a long time and it was fastened up. So this video is stupid. The prophet (PBUH) split the moon and that was one of his miracles, just like the miracles of Moses and Jesus  (PBUT).

According to the video I shared above (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JI0vApyi7E (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JI0vApyi7E)), the narrations which talk about, that the Prophet called the disbelievers and then with his index finger split the moon into two parts as a proof of his "Prophet-hood" are unreliable.

It would appear (according to the reliable narrations and Qur'an verse) that some extraordinary event happened (whether it be an actual splitting or whatever) and the Prophet directed the attention of the people towards it.

The Qur'an also talks about this event as evidence for the "Judgement Day" and not for the "Prophet-hood" of Prophet Muhammad.

Is this man even a scholar anyways? Most scholars are of the view that Muhammad (PBUH) split the moon and that was one of his miracles.

Most scholars say this based on the hadiths. But there r many hadiths which r corrupted and completely incompatible with the verses of the Quran.

I'm sorry but in the end, was it an eclipse or did the moon get cracked?

The "rubbish" was the anti-Islamic video brother. The prophet (peace be upon him) split the moon according to most scholars wether you like it or not. The only ones who are causing the anti-Islamics to attack the Quran is NO ONE! They are kufar, they do it wether we did something or not. But people like yourself who follow the "scientific miracle" HOAX blindly and still believe in it even after it has been DEBUNKED and when scholars warned against its danger you still believe in it. It is embarrassing and makes Islam look bad. Hamza Tzortis himself who was a former supporter of this lie said that he felt embarrassed because of what he had done. Stop accusing me falsley brother.

The Qur'an never said the moon was split IN TWO PARTS...Hamza Tzortis? he's been thoroughly refuted and he is hated and seen as a disgrace to islam....he's even labelled as an extremist. you seem to think he's some sort of prophet, hell do you believe that Prophet Muhammad pbuh isn't the last prophet? because many people who are against scientific miracles in the Qur'an could say no

maybe that was too far, i'm sure you don't believe that and i apologise...but Hamza Tzortis is NOT someone i'd take knowledge from

Yes, the Qur'an does say that Muhammad (peace be upon him) split the moon. Check Surat Al-Qamar (the Moon) and its tafsir and explanation. Second, No where was Hamza Tzortis refuted regarding the scientific miracle rejection of his. No where because NOPE of the people on this site can! I take my knowledge from him because he, unlike yourself (no offense), is professional in his arguments and cites acanemic sources. All you can say regarding his arguments is the following "that has been refuted". To you that line ("that has been refuted") is enough to refute the actual argument.

"he's been thoroughly refuted and he is hated and seen as a disgrace to islam"

Why are you lying about the brother and insulting him? That man defends Islam and is loved by many Muslims. His Facebook page has more than 100k likes. He is very professional and no one hates him besides the anti-Islamics. If there is anyone who is a disgrace to Islam over here then that would be the people who lie about their Muslim brothers!!! Also, just because the Quran doesn't say something then that doesn't mean that it didn't happen. The hadiths show us that he split the moon. Are you a Quranist by any chance? May Allah guide you to the right path brother.

no i'm not a "Quranist", the tafsir??? the tafsir isn't the word of Allah...Allah says inshaqaa not SPLIT IN TWO PARTS, the hadiths you're talking about are not reliable btw and just you know to clear things up...WHATEVER YOU SAY won't change a thing, the Qur'an is word of Allah, Allah put miracles in the Qur'an.

Abdullah Almadi,

I have just made a post that you are required to answer.  It was a direct question from brother Omar Ahmed.  You may not go any further before you answer it.  I don't like snakes and people snaking around.  You jumping from one thread to another to avoid answering questions will not be allowed here.

I will thoroughly answer all of your points tonight, insha'Allah.  I find you to be quite suspicious though that you continue to use Hamza Tzortis, a Greek Muslim.  Arab Muslims are not known to rely much on foreign Muslims when it comes to interpreting their ARABIC QURAN.  And Hamza Tzortis is not a name known among Arabs in the Middle East.

Anyway, whether you're a Muslim or some Arab infidel pretending to be one, you are required to directly answer the question in my last post to you.

Let me be clear.  If you're next post is not a direct response to brother Omar's question, then I promise you, you will be immediately banned.  Spamming and snaking around are never a debate.

Osama

Just to correct one thing, regardless of the debate on what Shaq-al-Qamar actually means, the Qur'an does not say that Prophet Muhammad himself split (or whatever happened to) the moon.
