Title: the wall of yajuj and majuj
Post by: H. on July 04, 2017, 03:12:00 PM
assalamu alaikum,

i have a question regarding the wall of yajuj and majuj
lets firstly see what the quran says about it:
quran 18:94, MUHSIN KHAN
They said: "O Dhul-Qarnain! Verily! Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog) are doing great mischief in the land. Shall we then pay you a tribute in order that you might erect a barrier between us and them?"

YUSUF ALI
They said: "O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them?

so a wall or barrier was built between them. now for the question: But what stops those people from climbing the mountanins and going over? also cant they just go around the mountain?

jazakallah khair.

Wa Alaikum As'salam,

The people had an army and weapons.  It's just that that area was a weakness.  So Dhul-Qarnayn, peace be upon him, sealed it.  So coming around the barrier was not possible for the Gog and Magog enemy.  It would've probably been too costly and risky for them.  And the enemy was most likely a tribe from Gog and Magog, and not all of them.  Probably they were raiders and thieves.  Sort of like Barbarians.  So Dhul-Qarnayn had put the barrier that finally stopped them from pillaging and stealing.

I hope this helps, insha'Allah.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah
