Noble Verse(s) 15:14-15:16 |
Yusuf Ali: [015:014] Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein,[015:015] They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery." [015:016] It is We Who have set out the zodiacal signs in the heavens, and made them fair-seeming to (all) beholders;
Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors): [015:014] Even if We were to fling open a door in the sky, and they were actually climbing up through it,[015:015] They would say, “Our sights fail us, we are drugged. Rather, we are a nation bewitched!” [015:016] And surely, We created fortified spheres in the sky, and for the viewers We decorated it!
Transliteration: [015:014] Walaw fatahna AAalayhim baban mina alssama-i fathalloo feehi yaAArujoona[015:015] Laqaloo innama sukkirat absaruna bal nahnu qawmun mashooroona [015:016] Walaqad jaAAalna fee alssama-i buroojan wazayyannaha lilnnathireena
Arabic (Read from right to left. Also, all png image files: [1] [2]): 15:14 ولو فتحنا عليهم بابا من السماء فظلوا فيه يعرجون15:15 لقالوا انما سكرت ابصارنا بل نحن قوم مسحورون 15:16 ولقد جعلنا في السماء بروجا وزيناها للناظرين
Sher Ali: [015:014] And even if WE open to them a gate in heaven, and they kept ascending through it,[015:015] They would surely say, `Only our eyes are dazed; rather we are a bewitched people' [015:016] And WE have, indeed, made mansions of stars in the heaven and have adorned it for beholders.
Shakir: [015:014] And even if We open to them a gateway of heaven, so that they ascend into it all the while,[015:015] They would certainly say: Only our eyes have been covered over, rather we are an enchanted people. [015:016] And certainly We have made strongholds in the heaven and We have made it fair seeming to the beholders.
Pickthall: [015:014] And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it,[015:015] They would say: Our sight is wrong - nay, but we are folk bewitched. [015:016] And verily in the heaven we have set mansions of the stars, and We have beautified it for beholders.
Sale: [015:014] If We should open a gate in the heaven above them, and they should ascend thereto all the day long,[015:015] they would surely say, our eyes are only dazzled; or rather we are a people deluded by inchantments. [015:016] We have placed the twelve signs in the heaven, and have set them out in various figures, for the observation of spectators:
Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan: [015:014] And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto,[015:015] They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." [015:016] And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders.
Palmer: [015:014] But had we opened to them a door of the sky and they had mounted up into it all the while;[015:015] then also had they said, 'Our eye-sight is only intoxicated; nay, we are an enchanted people!' [015:016] And we have placed in the sky the signs of the zodiac, and have made them seemly to the beholders;
Arberry: [015:014] Though We opened to them a gate in heaven, and still they mounted through it,[015:015] yet would they say, 'Our eyes have been dazzled; nay, we are a people bewitched!' [015:016] We have set in heaven constellations and decked them out fair to the beholders,
Khalifa: (why is he here?) [015:014] Even if we opened for them a gate into the sky, through which they climb;[015:015] they will say, "Our eyes have been deceived. We have been bewitched." [015:016] We placed galaxies in the sky, and adorned it for the beholders.
Rodwell: [015:014] Even were We to open above them a gate in Heaven, yet all the while they were mounting up to it,[015:015] They would surely say: It is only that our eyes are drunken: nay, we are a people enchanted. [015:016] We have set the signs of the zodiac in the Heavens, and adorned and decked them forth for the beholders,
