Noble Verse(s) 69:30-69:40

Yusuf Ali:

[069:030]  (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him,

[069:031]  "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire.

[069:032]  "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits!

[069:033]  "This was he that would not believe in God Most High.

[069:034]  "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent!

[069:035]  "So no friend hath he here this Day.

[069:036]  "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds,

[069:037]  "Which none do eat but those in sin."

[069:038]  So I do call to witness what ye see,

[069:039]  And what ye see not,

[069:040]  That this is verily the word of an honoured apostle;

Dr. Munir Munshey (one of www.answering-christianity.com's authors):

[069:030]  (The command will sound), “Grab him and tie him down!”

[069:031]  “And roast him over the blazing fire.”

[069:032]  “Then shackle him securely with iron chains, seventy yards long.”

[069:033]  He did not believe in Allah, the Almighty, the Greatest!

[069:034]  Nor did he ever encourage the feeding of the needy (and the hungry).

[069:035]  Today, he has no friends here!

[069:036]  And to eat, he only has the filthy discharge from wounds!

[069:037]  Which no one except the sinners have to eat.

[069:038]  No! Absolutely not! I swear by all that you see.

[069:039]  As well as that which you do not.

[069:040]  It, (the Qur’an), is the word of the noble messenger.

Transliteration:

[069:030]  Khuthoohu faghulloohu

[069:031]  Thumma aljaheema salloohu

[069:032]  Thumma fee silsilatin tharAAuha sabAAoona thiraAAan faoslukoohu

[069:033]  Innahu kana la yu/minu biAllahi alAAatheemi

[069:034]  Wala yahuddu AAala taAAami almiskeeni

[069:035]  Falaysa lahu alyawma hahuna hameemun

[069:036]  Wala taAAamun illa min ghisleenin

[069:037]  La ya/kuluhu illa alkhati-oona

[069:038]  Fala oqsimu bima tubsiroona

[069:039]  Wama la tubsiroona

[069:040]  Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin

Arabic (Read from right to left.  Also, all png image files: [1] [2]):

Sher Ali:

[069:030]  The angels will be commanded:`Seize him and fetter him,

[069:031]  `Then cast him into Hell;

[069:032]  `Then bind him with a chain, the length of which is seventy cubits,

[069:033]  `Verily, he did not believe in ALLAH, the Great,

[069:034]  `And he did not urge the feeding of the poor.

[069:035]  `No friend, therefore, has he here this day;

[069:036]  `Nor any food save the washing of wounds,

[069:037]  `Which none but the sinners eat.'

[069:038]  But nay, I swear by that which you see,

[069:039]  And that which you see not.

[069:040]  That it is, surely, the word brought by a noble Messenger,

Shakir:

[069:030]  Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him,

[069:031]  Then cast him into the burning fire,

[069:032]  Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits.

[069:033]  Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great,

[069:034]  Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor.

[069:035]  Therefore he has not here today a true friend,

[069:036]  Nor any food except refuse,

[069:037]  Which none but the wrongdoers eat.

[069:038]  But nay! I swear by that which you see,

[069:039]  And that which you do not see.

[069:040]  Most surely, it is the Word brought by an honored Apostle,

Pickthall:

[069:030]  (It will be said): Take him and fetter him

[069:031]  And then expose him to hell-fire

[069:032]  And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits.

[069:033]  Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous,

[069:034]  And urged not on the feeding of the wretched.

[069:035]  Therefor hath he no lover here this day,

[069:036]  Nor any food save filth

[069:037]  Which none but sinners eat.

[069:038]  But nay! I swear by all that ye see

[069:039]  And all that ye see not

[069:040]  That it is indeed the speech of an illustrious messenger.

Sale:

[069:030]  And God shall say to the keepers of hell, take him, and bind him,

[069:031]  and cast him into hell to be burned;

[069:032]  then put him into a chain of the length of seventy cubits:

[069:033]  Because he believed not in the great God;

[069:034]  and was not sollicitous to feed the poor:

[069:035]  Wherefore this day he shall have no friend here;

[069:036]  nor any food, but the filthy corruption flowing from the bodies of the damned,

[069:037]  which none shall eat but the sinners.

[069:038]  I swear by that which ye see,

[069:039]  and that which ye see not,

[069:040]  that this is the discourse of an honourable Apostle,

Muhammad Al-Hilali & Muhsin Khan:

[069:030]  (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him,

[069:031]  Then throw him in the blazing Fire.

[069:032]  "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!"

[069:033]  Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great,

[069:034]  And urged not on the feeding of AlMiskeen (the poor),

[069:035]  So no friend has he here this Day,

[069:036]  Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds,

[069:037]  None will eat except the Khatioon (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.).

[069:038]  So I swear by whatsoever you see,

[069:039]  And by whatsoever you see not,

[069:040]  That this is verily the word of an honoured Messenger (i.e. Jibrael (Gabriel) or Muhammad SAW which he has brought from Allah).

Palmer:

[069:030]  'Take him and fetter him,

[069:031]  then in hell broil him!

[069:032]  then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits force him!

[069:033]  verily, he believed not in the mighty God,

[069:034]  nor was he particular to feed the poor:

[069:035]  therefore he has not here today any warm friend,

[069:036]  nor any food except foul ichor,

[069:037]  which none save sinners shall eat!'

[069:038]  I need not swear by what ye see

[069:039]  or what ye do not see,

[069:040]  verily, it is the speech of a noble apostle;

Arberry:

[069:030]  'Take him, and fetter him,

[069:031]  and then roast him in Hell,

[069:032]  then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him!

[069:033]  Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty,

[069:034]  and he never urged the feeding of the needy;

[069:035]  therefore he today has not here one loyal friend,

[069:036]  neither any food saving foul pus,

[069:037]  that none excepting the sinners eat.'

[069:038]  No! I swear by that you see

[069:039]  and by that you do not see,

[069:040]  it is the speech of a noble Messenger.

Khalifa: (why is he here?)

[069:030]  Take him and shackle him.

[069:031]  Burn him in Hell.

[069:032]  In a chain that is seventy arms long, tie him up.

[069:033]  For he did not believe in GOD, Most Great.

[069:034]  Nor did he advocate the feeding of the poor.

[069:035]  Consequently, he has no friend here.

[069:036]  Nor any food, except the bitter variety.

[069:037]  Food for the sinners.

[069:038]  I swear by what you see.

[069:039]  And what you do not see.

[069:040]  This is the utterance of an honorable messenger.

Rodwell:

[069:030]  "Lay ye hold on him and chain him,

[069:031]  Then at the Hell-fire burn him,

[069:032]  Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits thrust him;

[069:033]  For he believed not in God, the Great,

[069:034]  And was not careful to feed the poor;

[069:035]  No friend therefore shall he have here this day,

[069:036]  Nor food, but corrupt sores,

[069:037]  Which none shall eat but the sinners."

[069:038]  It needs not that I swear by what ye see,

[069:039]  And by that which ye see not,

[069:040]  That this verily is the word of an apostle worthy of all honour!
