We have Quran speaking on phases of moon. We can see the spheric shadow depending on the phases. It doesnot really matter how one wish to interpret the formation of spheric shadow, was it made by earth's shape or moon's own shadow.
If its due to moon's own shadow, then we have verse of
spheric wrapping of day and night which is similar effect of spheric wrapping seen on moon. differents being spheric wrapping took a day and a month.

And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. (36:39-40)
He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver. (39:5)
