40:21 40:82 confused atharan

 Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector. Assalam alikum I have a problem understanding this verse the impressions atharan bit because some translation say traces etc so does this mean the people of mekkah have to see these traces and they are supier because this verse is mainly talking about about AD but they would have had to been in advance state of decay so how could they be supier if they were in advance State of decay and the reason this verse is mainly talking about ad because it says mightier and ad said that so is this verse just say there buildings were better in past or still are better now

Because people say atharan has to be something left behind but in 30:50 it says look at the effects of allah mercy so like I said does this verses mean there builds were better in the past or are still better now than the mekkah houses but like said if they are better now at that time how could they be if they were in advance state of decay

Every nation have their detailed history that is specific to them, and many nations have ancient ruins to support their history.  Allah Almighty is encouraging Muslims to travel throughout the lands to learn about the mighty people and empires of old to see how they ceased to exist.  Here is the Noble Verses again:

[040:021]  Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were even superior to them in strength, and in the traces (they have left) in the land: but God did call them to account for their sins, and none had they to defend them against God.

It is also of comparison of past people being mightier than the Arab Quraisy. Yet the Creator easily seize them. So will the Arab Quraisy take heed of the lesson or still not wanting to submit to the covenant brought by their prophet.

That was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Powerful and severe in punishment. 40:21-22

And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule. And when they saw Our punishment, they said," We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him." 40:83-84

Thank but the trouble is this verse is mainly talking about ad but there ruins are covered by the sand and there homes were in a advance state of decay so how could there ruins be better then the arabs

The same question can be posed on how can those past generations be stronger than the Arab quraisy.

That what I mean if they were in advance state of decay how could there ruins be greater unless atharan doesn't have to mean something left behind but just mean something they did or had done that it doesn't mean that we have to see it now meaning in the prophets time jazzakkallah
