Jews saying we killed the Messiah son of Mary Prohet of Allah?

Assalam alykam. in surrah nisa verse 157. where it says the jews saying they. killed isa the messiah ibn mariam rasulallah?    are they saying these tittles for isa. or is Allah calling him these tittles?  because the jews did not believe. Isa was the messiah or a prophet???    or is it Allah addressing. Isa these. tittles  to.the belivers???  can you please answer this

Assalam-Alaykum Brother,

The verse is 4:157

And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah ." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.

The Jews maybe were saying in a mocking way.

Isa was the Messiah or Prophet?
In Islam Messiah doesn't mean God so Isa(PBUH) was a Prophet

or is it Allah addressing, Isa these titles to the believers?

Jewish Holy book Talmud in Sanhedrin 67a says : Jesus was hanged on the eve of Passover.

But Allah says that HE saved him from crucifixion- Read Ahmed Deedat's Crucifiction or Crucifixion and Gospel of Barnabas for more details.

Bible Hebrews 5:7 -  During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.

The jews were called by several prophets including their own Prophet moses pbuh as wicked and evil people.

Jesus pbuh said to him as killer of prophets in Matthew 23:37 & Luke 13:34

Brothers we have the habit taking everything literally. Allah is saying that the jews
boasted in their literatures as I mentioned above including Talmud and Midrash.
