Hi sama, thanks for the reply, but that wasnt really what i was asking. I meant, in islam do we really believe the real name of moses was musa, and abraham was ibrahim, and jesus was isa, and enoch was idris and noah was nuh etc. Or do we say that these are the arabic version of their name, and this is how they were known in arabia t the time of Muhammad saws

assalamu alaikum,

i just have a simple question, do we view the names in the quran given to the prophets as their true and original names, or do we take them to mean the arabic versions of their names and this is how the arabs knew them?

do we think that abrahams real and true name was ibrahim, and jacob yaqub, and joseph yusuf, and moses musa, and jesus isa

because historically people say abrahams real name was abram, and moses moshe etc.

so do we take the names of prophets literally as they were their original names, or do we interpret them to be the arabic version of their names, and by these names they were known in the place and time of the prophet Muhammad saws.

if the first option is chosen how do we reconcile moses with being moshe, abraham being abram, if the latter is chosen that these are the arabized versions of their name and that they were known by these names, why do we try to prove that jesus real name was Isa?

assalamu alaikum,

i have multiple questions which are unrelated but i decided to put them in 1 article inshaAllah.

firstly the quran says

14:4, And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

quran 30:47, Verily We sent before thee (Muhammad) messengers to their own folk. Then we took vengeance upon those who were guilty (in regard to them). To help believers is ever incumbent upon Us.

so allah sent messengers to their own people and they spoke the same language of the people.

in the quran we see many times that allah made the injeel, and that he gave the injeel to jesus as.

the quran says that jesus was sent to the children of israel, so of course he has to speak the language of those people. sp the problem is, why is the word injeel used? injeel is a greek word and not hebrew like the children of israel spoke? Why did jesus come with the injeel to the children of israel if he is to speak in the same language as the people. see this video if osama abdallah allows me to post the link for more on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oU8Rhw1SEGc&t=393s

2. in quran 5:27 why did allah want a sacrifice, for what reason? Also why did he accept the sacrifice from one and not the other?

3. sunan nisai 3478 says:  was narrated from Abu Hurairah that a man from Banu Fazarah came to the Messenger of Allah and said:
"My wife has given birth to a black boy." The Messenger of Allah said: "Do you have camels?" He said: "Yes." He said: "What color are they?" He said: "Red." He said: "Are there any gray ones among them?" He said: "There are some gray ones among them." He said: "Where do you think they come from?" He said: "Perhaps it is hereditary." He said: "Likewise, perhaps this is hereditary."

this seems to me very illogical that it was hereditary, to me it seems like she had sex with a slave why would muhammad say such a thing?

4. final question, a anti islamic guy said that this verse in quran 33:50, O Prophet, indeed We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their due compensation and those your right hand possesses from what Allah has returned to you [of captives] and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet [and] if the Prophet wishes to marry her, [this is] only for you, excluding the [other] believers. We certainly know what We have made obligatory upon them concerning their wives and those their right hands possess, [but this is for you] in order that there will be upon you no discomfort. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

shows that if anyone wants to have sex with muhammad she can offer herself, and then it says this is only for the prophet. Why is this only for the prophet? why did he have more than 4 wives? why does he get special rights, i know he is the prophet, but why these rights

GENERAL TOPICS | BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS / Mules or camels
« on: June 29, 2017, 03:08:50 PM »
Assalamu allaykum ,

I have a question related to the following passage inshaAllah, it is quran 16:8, And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.

2 questions regarding it

1. It says that allah had created the horses, mules and donkeys. But the mules were not created by allah in that sense were they? Because allah never created the mule rather it was the horse and donkey which had intercourse which brought forth the mule. So how do i explain the above.

2. Why is the camel not mentioned in the verse? It says "for you to ride" and the animals which they used to ride mostly were camels and not horses and donkeys

Assalamu alaikum,

I have a small question with regards to if there were prophets between muhammad saws and jesus as.

Because there seems to be in my faulty understanding a discrepancy brtween a hsdith and a couple of verses in the quran and i hope you will explain.

The hadith is bukhari volume 4 book 55 hadith 651 which says: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "I am the nearest of all the people to the son of Mary, and all the prophets are paternal brothers, and there has been no prophet between me and him (i.e. Jesus)."

And these quranic verses 36:14 onwards,  When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened them with a third, and they said, "Indeed, we are messengers to you." They said, "You are not but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not revealed a thing. You are only telling lies." They said, "Our Lord knows that we are messengers to you, And our duty is only to proclaim the clear Message.." They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment."And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, "O my people, follow the messengers. Follow those who do not ask of you [any] payment, and they are [rightly] guided.

Regarding these verses ibn kathir ibn kathir writes that they got revelation: "so how could you receive revelation when you are human beings and we are human" and "ed from a number of angles. (The first) is that if we take this story at face value, it indicates that these men were Messengers from Allah, may He be glorified, not from the Messiah, peace be upon him"

Do how do i relate the hadith with the quranic ayat

Jazakallah khair

assalamu alaykum guys,

i have a question on a hadith, Jabir bin Abdullah:When I got married, Allah’s Apostle said “What lady have you married?” I replied “I have married a matron’ He said “Why? dont you have liking for virgins and for fondling them? Why didn’t you marry a young girl so you might play with her and she with you?” Sahih al-Bukhari 7:62:17

why did muhammad say this? what is the reason?

GENERAL TOPICS | BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS / Question regarding the moon
« on: June 23, 2017, 05:40:32 PM »
I think we all know the story of the moon split, but i have a question regarding that.

The quran says: "The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic."

Is the above about muhammad when he split the moon? Or is it a future evet to take place.
Because if it is about muhammad, it says: "the hour has come near" nut it was 1400 years ago and the hour hasnt come yet.

Can someone answer and explain

Jazakallah khair

In sahih bukhari 1145 and also reported in sahih muslim:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (p.b.u.h) said, "Our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, comes every night down on the nearest Heaven to us when the last third of the night remains, saying: "Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?"

So in the last part of the night allah descends but how does this work for all countries around the world? When its morning in america its night in australia. It is always night on some olace on earth correct? Someone posted this to me to show muhammad had a faulty understanding of the world and that he thought the whole world had one time, how do i respond to this claim?

GENERAL TOPICS | BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS / waraqa ibn nawfal
« on: June 19, 2017, 01:34:23 PM »
we know that many people say that waraqa ibn nawfal taught the prophet etc. but how do we explain this hadith as muslims:

bukhari volume 1 , book 1 hadith 3,

This is the same one who keeps the secrets (angel Gabriel) whom Allah had sent to Moses. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out." Allah's Apostle asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while.

so they already claim waraqa taught the prophet and when waraqa died the revelation stopped. Why did this happen as such and how do i answer this.

in the first revelation gabriel told muhammad (saw) to "iqra", which means read/recite. We know muhammad was illiterate and he responded with, i dont know how to read 3 times this happened. Why did he tell muhammad saw to read, allah swt is all knowing why did he tell him to read. And when muhammad said he couldnt read, why did gabriel squeeze him? And why did he again ask him to read? Was the squeeze to make him able to read or something. Also why wasnt Muhammad saws reaction differently, you are in a cave and an angel comes, he doesnt say hello, he just says read, and then squeezes you? Ughh i am just confused can someone explain

ok say regarding the hadith on drawing, these hadiths are mutawatir have been said multiple times by the prophet,

One is drawing pictures of animate beings. It says in the Sunnah that this is forbidden. It is not permitted to draw anything that depicts animate beings, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, according to the saheeh hadeeth: “Every image maker will be in the Fire.” And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The most severely punished of people on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers, those who tried to imitate the creation of Allaah.” And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The makers of these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and they will be told, ‘Give life to that which you have created.’”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed those who consume riba (interest, usury) and those who pay it, and he cursed the image-makers.

so with regards to drawing animate beings it is pretty clearly in hadith.

And for your saying: it isnt mentioned in the quran, we dont only take whats in the quran we also take muhammad. As the quran says he is our model, well how do we follow him, by obeying him and ding what he told us, also quran 7:157. This is not going to be a refutation of quranists but we take sahih hadiths too. and about drawing is mutawatir and clearly done

but with regards to taking pictures on the phone nothing wrong
drawing inanimate beings nothing wrong
animate beings there is a dispute, see shabir ally on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJVfAba_jtc

either way it is best to avoid things which have a dispute on it unless it is necessary to do it. So avoid drawing unless you kinda have to. Like dont draw for fun, but if you have to out of school or something, know there is a dispute

GENERAL TOPICS | BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS / rafidi confronted me with this
« on: June 18, 2017, 12:51:14 PM »
a rafidi shia who believes in the distortion of the quran/ corruption of the quran by the sahaba. confronted me with an aya of the quran and i didn t know how to respond to him, and it is about this aya:

quran 5:3, Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

he says: why is: this day i have perfected your religion in between 2 orders of food laws. Also the thing doesnt read quite right. It tells you whats prohibited, then islam is your religio and perfect and then but whoever is forced. It seems as if the part after: this day i have perfected your religion should be cnnected to the first part.

but i know the quran has been preserved so how do i respond

jazakallah khair

well, the basing of if a hadith is correct is through looking at the text, does it go against the quran and seeing the ones who have transmitted us the hadith. If the ones who have transmitted us the hadith are people who are : 1.known, 2.trustworthy 3. have good memory 4. are known not to lie and not to forge, then a hadith is accepted as hasan/sahih ( there is a lot more which happens, just a basic overview) but a hadith is completely solidified if it is: mutawatir. Mutawatir means with multiple chains of narration. So if the same story or words are transmitted by different people.

if you are sking is every sngle hadith in bukhari 100% sahih, well i would guess no, in al of those thousands of hadith, 1 lie could have slipped in, his is because bukhari and al albani and darussalam are al humans, and maybe a lie wasnt spotted or something. If a hadith is sahih we muslims take it, wheterh we like it or not.

if a hadith is sahih it means it is sound and true
