I recommend watching the brothers video. I naturally disagree with him , but would like Brother Osama to make a comment when he gets time.

Actually an expanding universe is consistent with ancient beliefs about the role of sky-gods, because the sky-gods were allevated to the position of bright souls which light up the night sky. One of the most famous divinities of the sky was Nut, who was supported by Shu. Shu is not just the god of air and wind, but also he is the god who expands to the two horizons. He is sometimes show as a god of the light of the moon and of the light of the sun. The sun appears to slow down at the horizons, thus the Egyptians believed that the god Ra changed to a different boat on his journey to and from the horizons, and hence the appearance of the slowing down of the sun at the horizons. It is called in scientific terms, differential refraction.

But in Egyptian parlance the concept of expanding a domain was relegated to expanding influence and power. For the Egyptians in order to overthrow chaos an expansion of the borders had to occur. The gods speak of overthrowing chaos in the universe. This is why in Egypt the great Pylons were erected as an extension of the cosmos. In some reliefs the god is slaying his enemies and the inscriptions mention that the god has expanded his territory and has overcome the great chaos. In one scene, for example, from the temple of Edfu the pylons show Horus smiting Apophis who represents the dark void. The dark void has no light and therefore nothing can grow in it. There is no space here just void, oblivion. The god Horus is here represented in the image of the falcon as the bringer of light in the afterlife which dispells the darkness of the void and expands the peripheries of this world and the next, expands the known cosmos to the egdes of the unknown.

The effects of the Big Bang may well have been known by the ancient Egyptians. They encoded it. Shu and Tefnut represents the laws of the universe which is concentrated in Maat. The galaxy we are in is subject to expulsion/expansion and contraction or gravitation. Shu represents the force of expansion, he is heat and air. Tefnut is moisture which is contractive. The Egyptians were being philosophical and scientific. In the same mythology the god who bore Shu and Tefnut is Atum, and he represents the physical aspect of the universe. In the mythos he is the Primeval Mound at the beginning of time, thus Atum emerged and gave birth to the two forces that now govern our galaxy. In the mythology the two forces of Shu and Tefnut are commanded to hold up the sky, thus expand the sky towards the two horizons.

But does this mean that the Egyptians believed that the universe is expanding? It would suggest only that the cosmos is subject to certain laws and forces, and the god desired to expand his divine power over the forces of chaos and darkness.

"...We built the heaven with might and We expand it wide."

Who is this "we"? Obviously it is the Elohim gods.

"...It is He (Allah) who created the seven heavens, one above another."

Thus I conclude that the expansion of the universe was the same as that for the Egyptians in their expansion of the peripheries of the horizons. The Egyptians called it the Horizon of the West and the Horizon of the East. And when the sky was formed it was "rent apart" and this Nut was separated from her lover, Geb. The same is told in the later Babylonian myth of Tiamat and Marduk, where Marduk splits Tiamat in two, thus separating the two halfs.

The "seven heavens" or Aeons here may be the celestial domains of the Archons, rulers of the world according to Gnosticism. In Egypt the seven heavens are delinated in the Ogdoad (eight gods, Elohim, Kabiri), where the cosmos is expanded to an eighth heaven. The Egyptians had nine heavens in total, with two of them being the two portions of Earth, the dual-land. In the book of the Enoch there are 10 heavens, which recalls 'perfection', for the Egyptians believed that 9 or 10 were perfect numbers. The Aeons are also mentioned in ancient Babylonian texts. But another explanation for the seven heavens is that each of the seven planets swims in its own heaven, thus there are seven planets and seven heavens respectively.

Take a look at this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_egg

In the myth of Pangu, developed by Taoist monks hundreds of years after Lao Zi, the universe began as an egg. A god named Pangu, born inside the egg, broke it into two halves: the upper half became the sky, while the lower half became the earth. As the god grew taller, the sky and the earth grew thicker and were separated further. Finally Pangu died and his body parts became different parts of the earth.

How do i refute the above brothers/sisters? Was this egyptian information EVEN available?

He writes:

"Yahweh is one god chosen from many gods. The advance towards monotheism in Israel was facilitated by monaltry, and strict monotheism came about as a result of rationalism. But the old scheme was too imprinted on the psyche. And Christianity had a 'son of God', including a heavenly god (the Father) and a goddess (Mary), which is the regurgitation of the old Baal religion. This is why Jews could not accept this heretical religion called Christianity. The veneration of Jesus and Mary was akin to that of Horus and Isis, who were the Baals of Egypt. Christianity started out amongst Pagan Jews. Eventually the pagan cult was Judaized.

And Mohammed reinterpreted Ramadan from its origins in pre-Islamic paganism. Ramadan is heralded by the crescent moon. The Hadj itself is a pilgrimage made by the pre-Islamic Arabs to the Kaba. Read A.J. Wensinck in his Handbook of Early Mohammedan Tradition, 1927."

Salamunalaykum,

The argument is as follows:

1. Is is well Established that Abu Huraira only met Muhammed pbuh for three years of his life - and he has narrated a lot more hadiths than the other Thahaba of Muhammed pbuh who lived with him far longer - Ummar Al Khattab, Abu Bakkar, who were with the holy prophet for way longer.

2. He admits making up hadith , and people question him when he relays hadith.

Abu Hurayra said once, “The Prophet said, `The best charity is willingly given; the higher hand is better than the lower one, and start with your own dependents. A woman says: `Either feed me or divorce me.' A slave says, `Feed me and use me.' A son says, `Feed me for the woman who will forsake me.'” He was asked, “O Abu Hurayra! Did you really hear the Messenger of Allah say so?” He said, “No, this one is from Abu Hurayra's pouch.

Al-Bukhari, Sahih, Vol. 6, p. 190, in a chapter dealing with spending on the wife and children.

3. He admits hiding hadiths because his life will be in danger - perhaps the ruling parties then did not want him to reveal some of the hadiths.

“I learned the fill of two receptacles [of ahadith] from the Messenger of Allah: I have disseminated only one of them; as for the other, if I disseminate it, this throat will be slit.”

Al-Bukhari, Sahih, Vol. 1, p. 38, in a chapter dealing with learning.

So my question is: Hadiths are very important, but do we have  a right to be saying one human being is absolutely trust able despite the above?

Ahsant

EDIT: I understand there is a project to preserve only the most authentic hadiths , but surely we muslims should only consider the Quran as sahih, and hold the hadiths in high regard - but not all of them unconditionally, rather, we should examine them hadith by hadith and consider the person, the societal pressures, the nature of the words.

I.E look at this:

Volume 1, Book 5, Number 277:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, 'The (people of) Bani Israel used to take bath naked (all together) looking at each other. The Prophet Moses used to take a bath alone. They said, 'By Allah! Nothing prevents Moses from taking a bath with us except that he has a scrotal hernia.' So once Moses went out to take a bath and put his clothes over a stone and then that stone ran away with his clothes. Moses followed that stone saying, "My clothes, O stone! My clothes, O stone! till the people of Bani Israel saw him and said, 'By Allah, Moses has got no defect in his body. Moses took his clothes and began to beat the stone." Abu Huraira added, "By Allah! There are still six or seven marks present on the stone from that excessive beating."

People attacking Islam have a field day because some of our Scholars hold hadith books as totally sahih.

"Isis was not human. She was a goddess. Why do I link everything to ancient Egyptian mythology? Well, we are discussing pre-islamic Arabia. How can we not relate it to Egypt? And we are discussing the Old Testament history, how can we not discuss Egypt? Egyptian religion is central to a lot in the Old Testament. Without Egypt there would be no Moses. Abraham came from the Mesopotamia, Harran. Harran is the city of the moon. The Kaba at Mecca was built by Adam. It was the Egyptian Atum (or Tum) who layed the benben stone thousands of years ealier, presumbly at Dumascus (Damascus). This stone was rebuilt by Abraham and Ishmael at Mecca, which the Egyptians called Makkhu relating to the four corners of the cosmos, and the two points of crossing, the boundary markers between Mount Manu and Mount Bakku. These are Safa and Marwa in Islam. The praying 5 times towards Mecca might have been a pre-islamic tradition relating to the moon. The moon was associated with the number 5, the epagomenal days. This is related to the Egyptians when the god Thoth won 5 days for the moon. Mohammed would have kept this observance but removed the Pagan notices, because he wanted to move away from polytheism.

So ancient Egypt and the pre-islamic peoples share a mythology. Islam shares a history with the pre-Islamic peoples, because we are told that Mohammed's parents were of the Quraiysh. Also Mohammed himself was called a Sabean. Some of these Sabeans, who were known for their science and knowledge, probably became the scholars who wrote the Koran.

So Egypt shows us a lot about Islam (and Christianity and Judaism). It shows us where they derived their legends."

Thank you brothers and sisters!

Brother Osama,

I saw the yusuf estates video and found these tips on how to deal with anti-islamic websites. Is it possible to have this added and sourced on this website? It would be useful for everyone.(Obviously if that is what you feel should happen!)

Taken from: http://www.itsislam.net/articles/dealing_antiislamic.asp

1. Keep your cool: It is good to be angry when you see Islam attacked, but keep your cool and act with a level head. When we are overly angry we cannot act rationally and thus we undermine our goals. We will do and say things which later on we will regret. For example, we may be tempted to attack the person's religion in a bad way which is not permissible in Islam.

2.Don't write the webmaster back unless you are ready: For the most part these people thrive on confrontation. They would love for you to respond and are ready for a quick answer. Remember, many of these people know a lot about Islam so if you are not ready for them they will soundly defeat you in any argument. Also, if you answer back but don't have the proper knowledge you will end up making Islam and Muslims look worse. Some webmasters actually post all responses on the website for all to read. The more silly the response then the more likely it will be placed on the site. Please note, just because someone wins a particular argument does not mean they are right. The loser may just not have all the information on hand at the time of the argument.

3.Don't try to have the page removed from the internet: Many Muslims try to have the website removed from the internet altogether by writing the company which hosts the site and complaining. This is a waste of time. Even if the host removed the site they can open up in a few days under another host, so our time is wasted on such efforts.

4Don't publicize the site to others: One of the biggest mistakes we commit is to tell others about the offensive website. All this does is give the site owner free publicity which is what he/she wants. If you see an offensive site don't spread it all over the place as you are actually helping the site owner when doing this.(I.E Do not back-link them, this adds to their SEO).

5.Best defense is a good offense: Finally, the best defense against anti-Islamic websites is to develop your own excellent website which presents Islam in a beautiful and accurate manner. Many people are out there searching for answers and more and more are turning to the internet to find these answers. Possibly they could visit your website and as a result become Muslim.

Also, other Muslims could use your site to get information they need for dawah or research and Allah will reward you for providing this service. Even if you cannot start a website, you can at least submit articles to existing websites which they can use so that all can get the benefit. Remember, you can play a valuable role in improving the Islamic content on the internet. Don't wait for someone else to do it. May Allah help us to be more effective in defending Islam.

Someone keeps telling me that Muhammed pbuh's followers in Mecca were not persecuted and he wrote this:

"Actually, the Muslim faith itself provides evidence that this wasn't the case, and that Muslims were not persecuted in Mecca, only Mohammed was, as he was attempting to wage war against them. (That's a really bad habit, he should have grown out of it...) Here are just two examples.

"The story of Fatima's sister, Muhammad's oldest daughter, is of acute embarrassment to those who insist Muslims were suffering in Mecca. Zaynab was married to Abu al-Aas ibn al-Rabee, one of Muhammad's arch enemies, and had no desire to leave. When Muhammad took her husband prisoner at the Battle of Badr, Zaynab tried to ransom him, but the prophet of Islam would not free the man until she promised to leave Mecca and live in Medina with him instead. She was actually forced to trade her marriage for her husband's life. It was not until Abu al-Aas agreed to "embrace" Islam (after being taken hostage again six years later following a Muslim caravan raid) that Muhammad allowed the two to live together."

I feel so compassionate to the poor Moslems....
She was suffering so much in Mecca...
And the Qu'ran teaches there is no compulsion in religion...

yea, right!

"The historical account also flatly contradicts the popular view that all Muslims had to flee Mecca following Muhammad’s declaration of war. In fact, it was only Muhammad himself whom the Meccans were interested in seizing. This is proven by the episode recounted in Ibn Ishaq/Hisham (326-328) in which Muhammad's own son-in-law, Ali, sleeps in his bed to trick his enemies into thinking that they had cornered him on the night they came to seize him.

Not only did the Meccans do no harm to Ali, even after finding out that he had fooled them, but he remained in the city for several days thereafter with Muhammad’s daughter Fatima in order to arrange the transfer of the family business to Medina.""

Is there a rebuttal for this brother?

8
can anyone help me answer this please?:

"The Muslim history would have you believe that. However the most accurate historical evidence is that Mohammed was only forced to flee after having signed an agreement with Medina to wage war on Mecca.

Where is this "historical fact" you so casually speak of? If it is your qu'ran; that is not sufficient historical evidence"

A lot of websites say he was 90 when he died, and that he died of arthritis and some artery disease. Can these websites be verified please? If he was 90, some people say he had severe arthritis and could not be riding a chariot to chase Musa a.s.

Salamunalaykum,

I am not an arabic speaker, but the below website claims to have met the Quran challenge. I understand the Quran does not fall in poetry or prose. A lot of non-muslims are quoting this website and link to disprove Islam and the Quran. Is it possible for a future article to refute this?

Thank you

Salamunalykum,

I hope the title is not true - and it makes no sense for it to be true- but when i debate with atheists and theists, and show to them the scientific miracles, they say that the Quranic arabic word has many, many, many meanings - each word having around thirty(? is that even true?) , and that the translations are all mostly speculative and are 'word play'. Hamza Tzortis himself says in his debate with Lawrence Krauss that he does not believe in doing Dawah by using scientific miracles of the Quran because the arabic words individually have so many, many translations and in the early periods they were all translated wrongly.

Surely this isn't true? Surely there needs to be a more or less reliable form of translation?

I would love to obtain an answer, i know Brother Osama has the Lisan Al Arab, and so he would be in a very good position to answer this:)

Furthermore brother, why do early translations of the Quran not describe the universe as expanding? Is it that the translators mistranslated it? Are there latin or greek or some early translators who did not mistranslate it?

Ahsant

http://www.answering-christianity.com/convert_christians.htm

You do an amazing Job brother , and may Allah swt reward your efforts.  As someone who cares a lot about our cause, can you please not include 9/11 and mussad as a means to convert non-muslims?

Your articles are full of quality and truthful information and succinct analysis. The 9/11 article is a complete turn off though brother.

I'm not saying it's wrong, it just does not belong in this website. I know for a fact it would turn many people away from the gems you have on here.

Salamunalykum everyone,

The answering Christianity website has truly been of great use and help for a lot of people. However, i do believe it could use some work in terms of the format, the links, the way it is ordered.

Perhaps have a clean-cut website with headers and that break down the topics, i.e : "Miracles of the Quran" , "Christianity" "Islam" ect, and have the home page as putting forth the latest articles for everyone to see what has gone on recently.

If brother Osama is willing to renovate the website, and requires any financial assistance, i would do my best to assist!
