The number seven definitely bears significance in several Ancient religions and cultures. For the sake of discussion, I will be focusing only on the Islamic significance of the number. As a Pagan, I, myself, believe in the seven chakras of the human body. I do believe
there is divinity associated with the number seven. If I began to write about it, however, it would occupy too many pages.

In the Qur'an, mention of the seven heavenly bodies is NOT referring to the seven layers of the atmosphere. Here are my thoughts about what it could in fact be referring to (Keep in mind that I do believe that some parts of the Qur'an are divinely inspired, clearly demonstrated in its eloquent sentence structure and numerical, as well as scientifical information).

The seven classical planets were: The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

These were all visible through the naked eye in ancient times (They had outdoor lifestyles, and were much better at observing the skies than we are, we are in fact too ignorant of that, plus we have "light pollution")

Qur'an 41:12 - "And He completed them as seven heavens within two days and inspired in each heaven its command. And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and as protection. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing."

What is "the nearest heaven", according to my interpretation of the word heaven?

Venus is the closest planet to the Earth. Furthermore, after the Sun, it is the brightest of the seven heavenly bodies, too.

Let's do a linguistic analysis (Again, I'm not an Arabic speaker, so I'll be using Google Translate. However, if YOU are an Arabic speaker, please correct me!):

The word used for "heaven" in the Qur'an in 41:12 is samāwātin - heavens (Thanks, Sahih Muslim!)

Let's go to Qur'an 2:255:

"Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great."

Notice the scripture says "heavens AND the Earth". The "heavens" can not in fact refer to the "skies", but rather, celestial bodies, as the skies are already part of the Earth, so saying "heavens and the Earth" would be redundant.

I would also like to add that the Jews also believe in 7 heavens.

That's correct, but also bears no relevance to what we are discussing here whatsoever, as neither of us are Jews.

Anyways, your theory is still absurd and pointless. The number 7 is a special number in most religions and even in the religions which predate the discovery of Jupiter.

Further proves my point that it refers to the seven heavenly bodies. The roots of all pagan religions is astrotheology.

Go to the religions section.

Sure, I'll start a thread there

Please be advised that the seven layers listed in the Qur'an are in fact not talking about the layers of the atmosphere.

According to nasa.gov which is the ultimate authority on this matter:

"The Earth's atmosphere has four primary layers: the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere."

As for the layers within the atmosphere, there are six.

But they don't predate the building of the Kaaba in Mecca by Abraham and Ishmael, peace be upon them.

You're correct

And who told you that Divine Religions didn't exist before Abraham and Ishamel?  We at least know of Noah, peace upon him.  And before him and after him were many Prophets.

I didn't mean to imply that. I said they predated every Abrahamic faith. The flood of Noah is based on the Epic of Gilgamesh from Sumerian times. I will be making a post about that soon.

Islam came to restore the Original Islam and to establish the House of GOD Almighty in Arabia.  This had been thoroughly prophesied and fulfilled.

So, assuming that the "true faith had been corrupted", why did Allah just sit there and let them all go to hell instead of sending an angel or a prophet to intervene right away before the alleged "corruption" was taking place?

In response to your "doomed to hell" remark, I do not base my beliefs out of fear or empty threats.

Are you Introvert18? Your theories are just like his. Anyways, Jupiter was not discovered until 1610.

Jupiter was known to Emperor Huan and Emperor Ling around 100-200 AD.

Source: De Crespigny, Rafe. "Emperor Huan and Emperor Ling" (PDF). Asian studies, Online Publications. Archived from the original (PDF) on September 7, 2006. Retrieved May 1, 2012. Xu Huang apparently complained that the astronomy office had failed to give them proper emphasis to the eclipse and to other portents, including the movement of the planet Jupiter (taisui). At his instigation, Chen Shou/Yuan was summoned and questioned, and it was under this pressure that his advice implicated Liang Ji."

The Romans named their deities after Jupiter.

•It was the pagans that plagiarized Islam, not the other way around.

This is false. Pagan origins have predated every Abrahamic faith that exists.

Gospel of Thomas

77. Jesus said, "I am the light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained.

Split a piece of wood; I am there.

Lift up the stone, and you will find me there."

Short answer: No.

The Islamic version of Adam and Eve does not cast blame on Eve for the original sin, nor does it involve the serpent of wisdom. Those are two key differences.

Why defend the deceased against a claim that is not offensive? I see nothing wrong with a preacher being gay, or straight, or bisexual. Let us not judge people by their sexual orientation!

The seven heavens refer to the seven heavenly bodies in ancient religions.

Back in those days, instead of planets, we had the "seven heavenly bodies":

Moon > Mercury > Venus > Sun > Mars > Jupiter > Saturn

When Muslims circumambulate the black cube seven times, they are in fact paying tribute to these seven heavenly bodies. Our days are named after some of these heavenly bodies:

Saturday - Saturn
Sunday - Sun
Monday - Moon
Wednesday - Venus
Thursday and Friday are named after the ancient deities "Thor" and "Frida", I don't remember where we get Tuesday from. However, this explains why Christians worship on Sunday, or the day of the Sun, as Jesus was the "light of the world" or the "risen savior".

It is true that the cities in which the Sunnis live in are richer and lack poverty. And this is normal because every single place with a lot Shiites in it is doomed.

This is normal under capitalism, we call it "systemic racism/poverty". For example, in the United States (Because that's the social structure I'm most knowledgable of), cities with a black/non-white majority (ie Detroit) are very poor and underfunded by the government. Their tap water is poisoned, and the government simply does not care about them. Unfortunately, like you have blamed the Shiite minorities in Saudi Arabia for their own poverty, the right winged white majority in the United States blames the blacks for their own poverty as well.

Just wanted to say how familiar the above argument is. Just replace "Shiite" with "Muslims" in general and most people will believe this was from a right-wing Christian.

Hahaha, I know right?

The answers on google are mixed. Also, are women allowed to visit the graves?

No, because the Muslims believe that the women might "seduce the dead"

Don't want any dead boners now,

*Wishmaster genie voice* that's no good!
