Hadiths & Sunna, and Prophet Muhammad's Person / non muslims with guns
« on: December 24, 2012, 07:10:53 AM »
Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 455
I know many Hadith that states that he will be severely punished in the after life, the prophet condemned people who did it, and some form of earthly punishment will probably be executed, but the Muslim himself can't be killed.
Can u pls tell me what it really means by using proper sources and critical analysis, it has really been troubling me for days. Thank you

GENERAL TOPICS | BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS / History vs. Hadith
« on: December 23, 2012, 03:16:05 PM »
Peace
I found many hadiths that state that non muslims be expelled from Arabia.
http://sunnah.com/search/expel-arabian-peninsula
However, history has shown us that non Muslims were still living their, The prophet didn't expel them and neither did Abu Bakr, Umar expelled the jews of Khaybar after they attacked Abdullah ibn Umaar and broke his arm, and he expelled them from hijaz, and he allowed them to visit hijaz for a 3 day visit. The christians of najran were expelled only after they broke a treaty.
These are found in history books and hadith.
isn't this a contradiction.

Quran Morality and Moral Code, Laws & QA / Fitna: persecution or disbelief
« on: December 19, 2012, 04:29:10 PM »
Peace
In verses 2:191-193 and verse 8: 39 both mention the word Fitna. Fitna here has been translated into 2 things, persecution and oppression, or disbelief. Mushin khan, ibn qayyim and ibn kathir says it is disbelief, shirk. However, Yusuf Ali, Pickthall, Ghali, Shakir say that it is persecution. They all use tis evidence:
(And fight them until there is no more Fitnah...).'' Ibn `Umar said, "We did that during the time of the Messenger of Allah, when Islam was weak and the man would be tried in religion, either tormented to death or being imprisoned. When Islam became stronger and widespread, there was no more Fitnah.''
Which opinion do you believe is right?

(PS view all the verses in context before u answer, you can find it in http://quran.com)

Quran Morality and Moral Code, Laws & QA / apostasy
« on: December 18, 2012, 10:55:26 AM »
Peace
Dear Osama Abdullah
in your apostasy article you should include the hadith in which it says:
"A believer should be killed except for 3 reasons, murder, adultery (which is impossible to prove), and leaving the muslims and the community" (it might vary in word but the meaning is the same)
this shows that peaceful apostates cant be killed .
I dont remember the source of this hadith, but i remember it exists 100%.

Quran Morality and Moral Code, Laws & QA / beating
« on: December 13, 2012, 07:54:39 PM »
Peace

We all have heard about the Quranic surah 4 :34, there are 2 interpretations: One is beating is allowed only if its done lightly (sometimes with a toothpick, ibn abbas), the other is that beating is forbidden all together. the scholars of the latter part have backed up there claim by saying that "beat" in the verse actually means "leave", they also use the hadiths such as:
Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri: "I went to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them.  (Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 11, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Number 2139)"

Narrated Mu'awiyah ibn Haydah: "I said: Apostle of Allah, how should we approach our wives and how should we leave them? He replied: Approach your tilth when or how you will, give her (your wife) food when you take food, clothe when you clothe yourself, do not revile her face, and do not beat her.  (Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 11, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Number 2138)"

It was narrated that Iyas bin 'Abdullah bin Abu Dhubab said:
"The Prophet said: 'Do not beat the female slaves of Allah.' Then 'Umar came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the woman have become hostile/bold/harmful towards their husbands? So order the beating of them,' and they were beaten. Then many women went around to the family of Muhammad,. The next day he said: 'Last night seventy women came to the family of Muhammad, each woman complaining about her husband. You will not find that those are the best of you.' " (ibn Majah Chapter on Marriage)
However, in the hadiths they also use the same word for "beat" as the same word for "beat" in the quran (Idribuhunna); so by there logic, it could also mean leave.
My question is, how can we be sure that in means "leave" in the quranic verse but mean beat in the hadiths?
Thanks

Quran Morality and Moral Code, Laws & QA / Peace or not
« on: December 11, 2012, 01:05:02 PM »
Peace
i came across a quranic verse 47: 35
Sahih International
So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior; and Allah is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds.
Muhsin Khan
So be not weak and ask not for peace (from the enemies of Islam), while you are having the upper hand. Allah is with you, and will never decrease the reward of your good deeds.
Pickthall
So do not falter and cry out for peace when ye (will be) the uppermost, and Allah is with you, and He will not grudge (the reward of) your actions.
Yusuf Ali
Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds.
Shakir
And be not slack so as to cry for peace and you have the upper hand, and Allah is with you, and He will not bring your deeds to naught.
Dr. Ghali
So do not feel feeble and call for (your) submission while (Literally: and) you are the most exalted ones; and Allah is with you, and He will never divest you of your deeds.
as usual my first sources was answering Christianity and i found this article
http://www.answering-christianity.com/adeel_khan/Rebuttal_to_Sam_Shamou1.htm
although i believe he proved shamoun wrong, i ask, what is wrong about Muslims asking for peace.
PLS REPLY

Quran Morality and Moral Code, Laws & QA / head covering survey
« on: December 08, 2012, 02:55:43 PM »
I am not a girl, so whether the covering is mandatory or not doesn't really concern me, later, God willing, if i have a family,i would let the female members decide among themselves, "no compulsion in religion".
However, i am very curious about your views, so pls answer this survey

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3NJPDL5

You also have to provide proof of your views.
remember quran is more reliant than hadith or the prophet, and hadith is the prophet is more reliant than scholarly deduction (but this is only the view of the scholar himself. (Although all can be given)
Answer, is the covering mandatory, and how much should she cover

I intend this to be a huge survey, God willing, more than 1 000 000 000, so can all my sibling is humanity answer this?
It would really gather views from all minds, young and old from all over the globe. Im probably dreaming though :)
My I kindly ask you to answer this survey, and if you can, i would mean greatly.
However, can you guys spread this survey irt would be even greater, show your friends, post it on Facebook, send to via email!
Thanks
Peace

GENERAL TOPICS | BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS / Chess
« on: December 07, 2012, 10:41:54 AM »
Is there solid proof for the prohibition of Chess
What i found was this hadith
Buraida reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: He who played chess is like one who dyed his hand with the flesh and blood of swine.
However the word they used is nardsheer, which translates into backgammon, or gambling dice.

IS there ANY other proof of its prohibition that is attributed to the prophet, not by later scholars?

Quran Morality and Moral Code, Laws & QA / 33: 50
« on: December 05, 2012, 03:10:52 PM »
Yusuf Ali's translation:
O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Pickthall's:
O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful unto thee thy wives unto whom thou hast paid their dowries, and those whom thy right hand possesseth of those whom Allah hath given thee as spoils of war, and the daughters of thine uncle on the father's side and the daughters of thine aunts on the father's side, and the daughters of thine uncle on the mother's side and the daughters of thine aunts on the mother's side who emigrated with thee, and a believing woman if she give herself unto the Prophet and the Prophet desire to ask her in marriage - a privilege for thee only, not for the (rest of) believers - We are Aware of that which We enjoined upon them concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess - that thou mayst be free from blame, for Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.

My Question is... what was the privileged that only the prophet had.
2nd question: was is the proof that the prophet could marry more than one wife, a Quranic verse please?

Hadiths & Sunna, and Prophet Muhammad's Person / Chess
« on: December 02, 2012, 02:41:29 PM »
what evidence is therefor the banning it (chess).
the only one i found was this:
Sahih Muslim
Book 028, Number 5612:
Buraida reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: He who played chess is like one who dyed his hand with the flesh and blood of swine.
However in the original arabic, it is found that the word they used is النَّرْدَشِيرِ, and it is translated as gambling dice or backgammon, NOT CHESS, so they proper translation is:
He who plays with Gambling dice (or backgammon) is like one who dipped his hand with the flesh and blood of swine.
Most other claims i met have no sources to back up their claims.
Chess increases you analytical ability,it is a beneficial pastime and a fun, competitive sport.

Rebuttals & Polemics / The 2 WORST Websites
« on: November 29, 2012, 08:52:37 PM »
Peace
These two are, by far, the WORST anti Islamic websites:
The first is
http://prophetmuhammadillustrated.com
This think is a comic website, it tells horrendous lies about the prophet through cartoons and comics, it is deadly because it gives a person visual effects, and we all love comics (I still read pokemon), so people will find it entertaining, in addition, kids will feel attracted to this book and website.

the other is worse
http://islamfundamentals.com
It was created by MUSLIMS and shows MUSLIMS are violent, intolerant, etc.
for eg.
http://islamfundamentals.com/2009/05/15/taking-non-muslims-as-friends/
http://islamfundamentals.com/2009/07/28/was-islam-spread-by-the-sword-2/
these people make me sick, they actually claim to be Muslims, the are conservative, salafi, not even ultra-conservative (Islamqa), they are extremists, they need to be stopped, in my view, these are the people who have problems, these people are loons (a toast to loonwatch). Its these people who are ruining the images of Islam, I swear EVERY single Anti Islamic argument is probably taken out of this MUSLIM website. Ali Sina and wikiislam and not even close to this because they acknowledge they are anti Islam, these people are proislam doing word twists false translations, etc.

First we must thank our fellow muslims and rationalists
http://www.systemoflife.com/
http://answering-christianity.com/ac.htm (of course)
http://www.answering-christian-claims.com/
http://www.loonwatch.com/ (non religious and nonpolitical, great people, non Muslims fighting islamophobia)
http://www.letmeturnthetables.com/
http://www.call-to-monotheism.com/
http://jamalbadawi.org/
www.ahmed-deedat.net (god have mercy on his soul)
And Zakir naik (I dont think he has a website)
(Idont agree with most of their views, but islamqa is also included)
thoughts on how we specifically do something about these websites and books
These people have fought many battle against the haters, they deserve our praise, they have refuted (ALOMOST) every argument put forth.

2nd we should do more to stop this sites (especially http://islamfundamentals.com) make petition for scholars and others to male proclamation (fatwas and such) to denounce these hating websites and praise the others. prosylizing is important, but it begins wby showing the true, peacful message of islam.
Peace
Our enemy has made a list of ALMOST every single arguement against islam (some haven't been reftued yet) if we can refute this, the we r that one step closer to victory

I always thought that this particular hadith was a sign to show that women and men in islam are equals, yet, according to sunnah.com, it is considered weak. here is the hadith.
from: http://sunnah.com/tirmidhi/1#113
"The Prophet was asked about a man who finds wetness and he does not remember having a wet dream. So he said: 'He is to perform Ghusl. And (he was asked) about a man who had a wet dream but does not find any wetness, so he said: 'No Ghusl is required of him.' Umm Salimsaid: 'O Messenger of Al1ah! Is the woman required to perfonn Ghusl if she sees that?' He replied: 'Yes. Indeed women are he partners of men.'" (Da'if)

Another reference is in Sunan Abu Dawood 236 ( http://sunnah.com/abudawud/1#236 )
Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin:
The Prophet () was asked about a person who found moisture (on his body or clothes) but did not remember the sexual dream. He replied: He should take a bath. He was asked about a person who remembered that he had a sexual dream but did not find moisture. He replied: Bath is not necessary for him. Umm Salamah then asked: Is washing necessary for a woman if she sees that (in her dream)? He replied: Yes. Woman are counterpart of men.
