As'salamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters,
One important point in the debates that came up, which I believe I have refuted it soundly is this:
1- Prophet Muhammad was presented a scroll from the Jewish Law, and the Prophet used it to execute Judgment on a Jew. And the Prophet further said to the Scroll: "I believe in you, and in the One who sent you!"
So does this mean that the Bible is perfectly preserved according to Islam?
RESPONSE:
1- The Scroll was written in Arabic, and the Prophet read it in Arabic.
2- It's a translation.
3- There is no original text. The Bible's original text doesn't exist, nor was the scroll that was presented to the Prophet original.
4- Hebrew is a developed language from the ancient Phoenecian language. It's not original. It's like Italian, which was developed and originated from Latin.
5- So what does all of this mean? It means that the Law of GOD Almighty EXISTS in the Jewish Law. So while for instance we have "Thou shalt not steal" in the Jewish Law today. The Original Command of GOD Almighty might have been either longer or shorter in text. But the LIVING LAW IS THERE. Do not steal. That is a Living Law from the many Living Laws that the Jews have to abide by and honor.
6- The Arabic scroll that was given to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was not in text of the original Law. But nonetheless, the LIVING LAW was still there. It was preserved.
I hope this helps, insha'Allah. I will post the debates as soon as possible, insha'Allah.
Take care,
Osama Abdallah
