I have no reason to believe that these stories are true.  It is BEYOND clear to me our hadiths narrations have conspiracies in them against the Prophet and Islam.  This was thoroughly demonstrated at:

But where does this "The Prophet bowed down to idols" hadith come from? From another fabricated biography I suppose!

And I don't believe it either, even if it is in Bukhari! These type of hoaxes are destroying Islam!

May be that narration is false but still this can be used to answer those people's who's hearts are like stones which never admit these narrations are false!

its possible as some claim such stories were added by some "Israelite Muslims" so that the Arabian prophet will not be superior than their Israelite prophets.

In Israelite scriptures their prophets do a lot of mistakes opposing the commands of Yhwh,
for e.g prophet Aaron allowed the worshiping of idol calf, so prophet Aaron himself moulded the idol cow for Israelite to worship. Rabbis say the logic behind such act was to buy some time awaiting for prophet Moses to return, and by worshiping idol they will stay content and not went violent.
