Allah's said in the Quran: (وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَى * مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَى * وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى * إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى) [النجم: 1-4]. which is translated as By the star when it descends,* Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,* Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination.* It is not but a revelation revealed,) Quran [Surah al Najm 1-4]
Our topic today is about this verse: "By the star when it descends". The word هَوَى is the one which is translated as descends, but the verse doesn't make much sense, does it? Even 1400 years ago, they knew that stars don't fall down, but science tells us that stars die. The outer parts of the star are expelled violently into space, while the core completely collapses under its own weight.
The word هَوَى can also mean death, هوَى الرَّجُلُ هُوِيّاً وَهَوَاءً : هَلَكَ ، مَاتَ
So translating this word as descends doesn't make sense, because even if we assumed that our prophet is making up this religion from his mind, then he wouldn't say "by the star when it descends". So we have two choices whether the word هَوَى means descends or die, but as we proved that it can't mean descends, so it actually means die here. So the translation of this verse should be like this "By the star when it dies"
How could an illiterate man who lived 1400 years ago in a desert know that stars die? And again the Quran proves to be God's true words.
