Malachi 3:1
« on: June 04, 2018, 10:27:00 AM »
A Christian says that Malachi 3:1 refers to Jesus where yahewah says that he will send his messenger who will prepare a way before me
He argues that here messenger is John pbuh and before me is Jesus Christ pbuh
Kindly refute this....

As'salamu Alaikum brother Kamil,

Here is what the verse in question says:

Malachi 3:1 (KJV)
3 Behold, I will send my messenger (Jesus), and he shall prepare the way before me (GOD's Religion Islam): and the Lord, whom ye seek (Jesus), shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant (Muhammad), whom ye delight in: behold, he (Muhammad) shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

I personally do not care if this was about John the Baptist or not.  But really, how do we even know that John the Baptist even existed, or was a genuine Prophet?  The Baptist died doubting Jesus:

When we read Isaiah 41 and 42, and the Bible's Prophecies about the 10,000 Believers of GOD Almighty in both the OT and NT, we clearly see the Servant with the New Covenant will come from the desert of Arabia (desert of Kedar):

I do not have any reason to disbelieve in Prophet Muhammad mentioned in the Bible.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

What about these

Matthew 11:10
This is the one about whom it is written: 'Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.'

Matthew 11:14
And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.

Mark 1:2
As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: "Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way."

Luke 1:76
And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare His ways,

Luke 7:27
This is the one about whom it is written: 'Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.'

John 1:6
There came a man who was sent from God. His name was John.

John 1:7
He came as a witness to testify about the Light, so that through him everyone might believe.

John 2:14
In the temple courts He found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers seated at their tables.

As'salamu Alaikum,

We do not know if John the Baptist is Yahya or not, of if he is a genuine Prophet or not.  The New Testament is an unreliable source.  Unless the Glorious Quran confirms something, we can not accept anything from the NT.  Like I said, he died doubting Jesus.

As to the verses quoted above, yes, the Jews were expecting:

1-  Elijah.
2-  The Messiah.
3-  The Prophet.

We know that Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was expected by the Jews.  This is why they migrated to Medina in Arabia.  Why would they go dwell in the lands of the Ishmaelites?  Because they were hoping that the awaited Prophet from these lands would be a Jew from them.  Not an Arab.  Please visit:

"Bring forward the most learned among you before me."  When that man came forward, he and Muhammad spoke in private.  Finally Muhammad asked him, "Do you know that I am the Apostle of Allah?"  The rabbi answered, "By Allah! Yes, and the people know what I know.  Verily your attributes and qualities are clearly mentioned in the Torah, but they are jealous of you."  (History of Muhammad Ibn Sa'd, Volume I, Pages 188)

"...and he is the Prophet of these people; he is an Arab and the Jews are jealous of him wishing that he should have been  an Israelite..."  (History of Muhammad Ibn Sa'd, Volume I, Pages 177)

Take care,
Osama Abdallah
