What is the definition of Democracy in Islam? How does Islam practice Democracy?
After the death of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, each one of the four Caliphs who ruled after him, differed from one another about the leadership. Let us briefly examine what they did:
1- Abu Baker was elected by the majority of the Muslims, in a twisted way, right after the death of Prophet Muhammad. He however, served until he died. Abu Bakr got elected while Ali and Abbas were busy burying the Prophet, peace be upon him. Otherwise, Ali, - who was to Muhammad as Harun (Aaron) was to Moses according to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, - would've been elected. Ali did not pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr for 6 months after Abu Bakr was elected.
2- Omar was given the leadership by Abu Baker. Muslims were not given the opportunity to vote for Omar or for anyone else. Omar was imposed upon them.
3- Uthman became the leader in an awkward way. Omar had 6 elected representatives from the Muslims, and he purposely made their number even, to vote for the next Caliph or leader, because Omar was very sick and was about to die. Three of those representatives voted for Uthman and the other three voted for somebody else. Ironically, Omar brought his son, who had no political influence or power and didn't represent anyone what so ever, and he had him choose between Uthman and his competitor, Ali. Omar's son chose Uthman, and this is how Uthman became the leader.
4- Ali was Uthman's vicegerent became the leader after revolutionists killed Uthman for causing so much corruption by bringing his family to power and gave them all kinds of wealth from the Muslims' State's Wealth. They simply voted for Ali and he became the leader. Hell broke loose afterwards, because Muslims thought that Ali didn't want to avenge for Uthman's murder. Others even thought that Ali conspired to kill Uthman. The famous battle of Camel (of Aisha) happened in Iraq between Aisha's army and Ali's army. Aisha wanted to avenge for Uthman's murder, and she and her men refused to pledge allegiance to Ali unless he avenges for Uthman's murder. Ali refused this condition and sent his army to stop them. They clashed in Iraq in the battle of the Camel of Aisha, because she and her camel were at the center of the fight.
5- Hasan was the fifth Caliph, who was Ali's son. After his father's assassination, the Muslims voted Hasan to become the Caliph. Hasan was later murdered through poison. Hasan is the forgotten fifth Caliph. Muslims always refer to the Caliphs as the "Four Rightly Guided Caliphs", referring to the top four. They almost never mention Hasan, even though he was 100% a legitimate Caliph, and he was the oldest son of Ali, and the Grandson of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
Personally, I think that elections were practiced. Abu Baker, Ali and Hasan were certainly elected to be the Caliphs by the majority of the people. Omar and Uthman were elected in a different way. Again, please visit:
Can the leader abuse his power in Islam? Does Islam have any limits to the leader?
Well, the leader has to always consult with his administration about everything. Allah Almighty Said:
"It is part of the Mercy of God that thou dost deal gently with them Wert thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee: so pass over (Their faults), and ask for (God's) forgiveness for them; and consult them in affairs (of moment). Then, when thou hast Taken a decision put thy trust in God. For God loves those who put their trust (in Him). (The Noble Quran, 3:159)"
"Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance; (The Noble Quran, 42:38)"
Islam doesn't allow the leader to abuse his power, or to go beyond his limits as dictators do today.
Non of the four Caliphs was really perfect! My rebuttal to the Muslim Sunni and Shia sects.
Ask me any question section.
Allah, Islam, Quran, Muhammad questions and answers.Does Islam allow for individuals to make their own verdicts and fight the enemy, or should the government do that? What does Islam say about that?
Prophet Muhammad predicted the coming of the "dictators" and bad leaders.
Back to Islam's laws on Wars (Jihad), Peace and Government.
9/11: The biggest lie in history!
Watch these videos from White-Americans (not Arab-Muslims) proving that the Pentagon bombing was done by a Global Hawk drone! No bodies and no airplane-debris were found! Also, no noise was either recorded or detected by any ordinary person!
Does Islam command the killing of disbelieving
civilians and captives? A text-debate that took place between me and an
Islamophobe on David Wood's blog.
The following debate thoroughly demonstrates that ISIS is not Islamic, and that it was made by the zionists to pave the way for the "Another 9/11":
The Debate PowerPoints contain the written material for my presentation and rebuttals.
Allah Almighty sent a Prophet and a Messenger to the Arabs because they were fresh and had no previous Prophets before. They also had no corrupt scriptures like the Jews and Christians had. The pagan Arabs were ready for a new Prophet and a new Divine Religion. This is why Prophet Muhammad was sent. He was sent:
1- To move the Arabs and mankind from the worship of idols to the worship of the True One Living and Sovereign GOD Almighty of the Universe, and to associate no partners with Him.
2- To restore the original Faith, which is Islam, after the Jews and Christians had corrupted it and invented their own lies and man-made conjectures and alterations of scriptures.
Furthermore, after Islam prevailed and ruled over the disbelievers, Allah Almighty Commanded the Muslims to:
1- Be Just to all of the disbelievers and
all people in general.
I've provided ample Noble Verses from the Glorious Quran that proved this. And these Noble Verses came AFTER Islam became victorious over the disbelievers, not before. So after the hostile times ended, Allah Almighty Commanded the Muslims to go back to the roots of Islam, which is Justice, Mercy, Kindness, Forgiveness and to show the Love of Allah Almighty to all:
On Islam being "Jew Hating" (David Wood made this claim):
"Of the people of Moses there is a section who guide and do justice in the light of truth. (The Noble Quran, 7:159)"
was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was guidance
and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the
prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to God's will, by the rabbis and the
"Those who believe (in the Quran),
and those who follow
On Mercy and Forgiveness:
Let's see Islam's Golden Rule and the Noble Verses that deal with Forgiving and Forgetting the faults of others:
"Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men;- for God loves those who do good;- (The Noble Quran, 3:134)"
"Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; But turn away from the ignorant. (The Noble Quran, 7:199)"
"We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness. (The Noble Quran, 15:85)"
"But because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard; they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for God loveth those who are kind. (The Noble Quran, 5:13)"
"Quite a number of the People of the Book wish they could Turn you (people) back to infidelity after ye have believed, from selfish envy, after the Truth hath become Manifest unto them: But forgive and overlook, Till God accomplish His purpose; for God Hath power over all things. (The Noble Quran, 2:109)"
"Let not those among you who are endued with grace and amplitude of means resolve by oath against helping their kinsmen, those in want, and those who have left their homes in God's cause: let them forgive and overlook, do you not wish that God should forgive you? For God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (The Noble Quran, 24:22)"
"Tell those who believe, to forgive those who do not look forward to the Days of God: It is for Him to recompense (for good or ill) each People according to what they have earned. (The Noble Quran, 45:14)"
The Love of Allah Almighty:
"They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. And they feed, for the love of God, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of God alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (The Noble Quran, 76:7-10)"
"But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- (It is:) freeing the bondman; Or the giving of food in a day of privation To the orphan with claims of relationship, Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. (The Noble Quran, 90:11-17)"
"It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in God and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and a dversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing. (The Noble Quran, 2:177)"
"They ask thee what they should spend (In charity). Say: Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, -God knoweth it well. (The Noble Quran, 2:215)"
"And render to the kindred their due rights, as (also) to those in want, and to the wayfarer: But squander not (your wealth) in the manner of aspendthrift. (The Noble Quran, 17:26)"
On Wife Beating in Islam:
The Glorious Quran commands the beating of the NASHIZ (loose, flirty, unjustly defiant) wife after the 2nd warning was given to her. After that, they must sit with elderlies from her side and his to decide on whether the marriage should continue or not. By the way, the Arabic word DARABA also means to "leave". It doesn't just mean to "beat", and I've provided several Noble Verses where the word DARABA was used for leaving and traveling abroad from the Glorious Quran.
For normal women who fear Allah Almighty and aren't loose or flirty or unjustly defiant, Allah Almighty and Prophet Muhammad commanded the husbands to:
1- Never beat their wives.
This is a very long topic to discuss here. I've provided ample Noble Verses and Hadiths in the following link: https://www.answering-christianity.com/beating.htm. I've also proven from David Wood's Bible that wife-beating is allowed to evil wives.
For all of the points that I discussed earlier, there are many more Noble
Verses that I could provide for all of the points that I discussed above.
The Noble Verses that I displayed in this video were only a select few that I
