There are a few points to notice here:

1-  In verse 2 above, the dragon is the ruler of the beast.  This means satan is the ruler of the evil system that will rule the earth.

2-  In verse 7 above, the whole world will be eventually ruled by the evil and blasphemous beast.

3-  In verse 11 above, the beast had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.  This means that he will look like Christ, but he will be evil.  Christ is referred to as the lamb in the Bible, and here we see satan is referred to as the dragon.

4-  In verses 16-18 above, the people of the earth will receive the mark of the beast, to be part of his system, in order for them to be able to buy and sell.  Otherwise, they won't be allowed to buy and sell.  They won't be part of the system.  And his mark's value is equal to 666.  These are the modern-day Greek characters: Χ ξ ς.  While they are not even the original, but let us analyze them in details.  Here is their image in case your fonts don't display them properly:

Χ  is the Greek letter "chi" (pronounced as kai), and it has the numerical value 600.

ξ  is the Greek letter "xi" (pronounced as zee), and it has the numerical value 60.

ς  is the Greek letter "stigma", and it has the numerical value 6.
